Thinking back to the election, I am reminded of the famous quote by Anthony Crosland about the 1963 Labour leadership election "A choice between a crook (Harold Wilson) and a drunk (George Brown)." You could probably say similar about Trump and Clinton!

I didn't know Clinton was a drinker.Apparently there is a way Hilary could still be president.

Clinton was a crook with charm.
You mean the Male Clinton, yes?I can't think of a more charmless person than Hillary Clinton, other than her main opponent...
A President/leader doesn't have to be a good human being, they have to be competent.
Trump ran a very competent primary and campaign, that was obvious and Dilbert called it right from the start. It was all only possible though because American politics had produced a set of rivals, opponents and landscape so utterly pathetic that frankly they deserved Donald winning.
The whole damn thing could have been averted if one viable option had called his bluff.
Donald ran a competent campaign based on bluff. This now is what happens when you have nothing other than bluff. Whether he is sexist or racist is irrelevant because he isn't managing the most important job of being competent.
What surprises me is that no young buck isn't making a name for themselves on the back of this by coming out all guns blazing.

I’d argue that the ONE thing the President has to be, is a good human being (or at least act convincingly as one). They can surround themselves with competent people and Trump’s inability to execute any of the guff he spouts proves that cooler heads run the show, but for the sake of the Nation’s image on a world stage, someone convincing and statesmanlike is needed at the top.

For someone who claims to love and respect his military he was caught out on Monday when he tried saying he was the best at contacting the families of fallen soldiers. Called out on it he said he had written letters and they would be going out today. Yup, sure, you didn't rush back inside to do them then...http://www.politico.com/story/2017/10/17/trump-isi...
Also called out on his claim that he was better than Obama who never dealt with the fallen, with the standard response of "it's not my fault, it's what I was told"

Always thought that any decent leadership is someone up the top picking the right people. I do not expect Mr T to be great at everything or anything, much the same way as I do not expect our May, but they have a pool of people they can pick on and use them well and have a good direction to attempt. However, the GOP picked him, and I see the GOP with the nigh on titular head.
Also, making promises before getting to office, better make appeals that the intent will be to try. That way, when the wall or the health care do not happen as you said it would then you are not distracted with the fail as much and more importantly, it is not overshadowing your tenure. However, the contest needed to be promises I think, the US politics seem to need that at the moment?

He breaks all the rules - not only of being a President but of being a decent human being.
Agreed and he seems to want to prove it all the time:Trump tells the wife of a dead soldier that "he knew what he signed up for"
Dead soldier knew what he signed up for
What an ahole.

Is this on the radar for ordinary people in the US or no one bothered? One news org saying he was on the course days after the news broke and still no comment on the event. But it should be bad form to politicise this in any way. It happened on October 4th.
