The draining of the swamp project seems to have sunk - into the swamp.

It looks every bit as unpalatable as it ever did - especially now that it has an ultimate Swamp Monster in Chief at the helm.

Expecting Trump to "drain the swamp" was about as realistic as asking Al Capone to clean up the Chicago Police Department.
I am not devoid of pessimism myself Eric but I will happily watch them have a bash. He does seem to be unique that he is actually trying to do what he said he would do when he ran.
He's achieved none of his promises though. Travel ban - blocked again.
Obamacare reform - nope.
Keeping manufacturing in the US - nope. The factory he claimed to have saved has gone.
Drain the swamp - it's gotten worse, not better.

He's shown he doesn't understand his job so many times...

Wouldn't be the first time......

So basically we have a POTUS who does crank phone calls......
Normally I'd say unbelievable but I'm beginning to expect this sort of maniacal stuff from this nugget. God help us.

Keeping industrial-military complex happy (for now) with investement............Hows he paying for this
Small business confidence high and expecting growth...........Proof ?
Illegal immigrant arrests up nearly 50% and expected to go over 400%, ............No racism involved at all
Finally dealing with NK and Iran.......... By trying to start WW3
Finally calling China on currency manipulation.........I bet they are panicking
Leaving poor Trade and Environmental deals ..........Debatable
Test border walls under construction...........who is paying for those
Huge drug policy changes incoming.........Everything is incoming
Going after drug manufacturing and health insurance companies that drive costs of healthcare high...............Yep that will make his billionaire mates happy.

Cars don't waste your time. I have concluded and it has been repeatedly shown there is no reasoning with the anti Trump fanatics in this thread.

It seems from what I can see that the stock market is just continuing on a consistent upward path, and Trump is just very keen to try ro take credit for this. He actually seems comically clueless about financial matters, for example being heard asking an aide ‘which is it again that is good for the economy, a strong or a weak dollar?’.

I am happy to be corrected if wrong though, so if I am, could someone explain to me specifically what it is that Trump has done that has positively affected the stock market, over and above it continuing on the trajectory it was already on?

Hmm. Those rose-tinted specs sure are, umm, rosy:

Stock market booming - that will happen if you say you're going pursue economic nationalist policies (thanks, Steve Bannon). Though the real effect of Trumpism (AIUI) only start to be seen after his first 12 m in office (thanks, Obama)

Keeping industrial-military complex happy (for now) with investement - same point as the first point. Smaller subset.

Small business confidence high and expecting growth - same point as the first point. Unlisted companies.

Illegal immigrant arrests up nearly 50% and expected to go over 400%, - Every despot needs their Emmanuel Goldsteins.

Finally dealing with NK and Iran - Is "dealing with" a synonym for "making a bad thing worse" (or in the case of Iran, "fking up a good thing")?

Finally calling China on currency manipulation - except he didn't

Leaving poor Trade and Environmental deals - and got roundly slated for doing so by just about everyone with a brain

Test border walls under construction. - So not being built.

Huge drug policy changes incoming. - So not implemented.

Going after drug manufacturing and health insurance companies that drive costs of healthcare high. - So not done it.

All that while fighting a made up Russian scandal, - made up? Sources please.

his own party ignoring their voters wishes - how sweet. You think the Republicans are his party

and a completely biased liberal media. - which he has said he wants to take off the air. Guess you don't read foxnews.com though.

I'd give him a 6/10 so far - well, they say GCSEs and A levels have suffered from grade inflation, so why not marking Presidents too?

and expect it to go higher as he makes deals. - "Deals"? The man who claims to be the expert at making deals hasn't made any of note so far.

Interestingly business owners and the self employed gave Trump a 6 point advantage in the election. If the economy stays on track I expect Trump to serve two terms. - He could make two terms. Dubya did, which seemed incredible at the time. Though Trump makes Dubya look like the love child of a threeway between George Washington, Abe Lincoln, and Aristotle.

The dem's constant focusing on Russia and SJW stuff is not what most Americans care about. - I don't claim to know the mindset of "most Americans" (so it's nice that you can help us out there), but your might be surprised to learn that the middle America evangelical Christian part of the Rep base is deeply uncomfortable about him fking up the ACA if it means the most vulnerable lose cover. Them Christians, they're genuinely generous and caring people, see. Even they squirm at the idea of throwing poor sick people in the dumpster.
So on your assessment he's drawn a hate focus on a particular group, fked up a few things, and not got much else done.

Right now he is embroiled in a stand up argument with the mother of a deceased American soldier over whether he was a prick when he spoke to her. As he did with those parents of a deceased serviceman during the campaign, he will notch this up and up because (a) he has no judgement; (b) he's a complete ; and (c) despite his claims to have a high IQ, he's as thick as mince and possibly suffering from a mild form of senile dementia.

If' that's a 6/10, what would he have to do to get a 3?

Part of the problem is the lack of reasoning and critical thinking exhibited by the pro Trump fanatics.

What about a double wall?

banghead The geek in me likes the use of electronic monitoring but maybe it's not giving the jumpers much chance. Seems almost unfair.

Well if you were a real geek you would "google" and hence be aware that most "illegal" immigrants simply overstay visa's either that or explain how that wall would stop me using a hang-glider wink

www.rawstory.com/2017/10/white-house-walks-back-trump-claim-that-dem-fabricated-remarks-to-widow-now-says-he-was-misunderstood/

However, an anonymous White House official tells The Sentinel that Trump was simply “misunderstood” when he told Johnson that her late husband “knew what he signed up for” when he joined the Army.

I can add nothing

You REALLY don't know?

What have you been doing for the past nine months?

Sorry, it's late and I'll shortly be off to bed. If I started listing things I'd miss an entire night's sleep. We are on our third Trump as President thread. Just read through this and the other two threads and you will pick up a few hints as to what he and his family are up to and how they behave.

Did anybody make a point regarding what Trump said in his belated phone call to the widow of one of the Green Berets killed in Niger?

Not only does he lack empathy, he actually has negative empathy.
