On Tuesday the donald gave Fox News Radio interview saying that he had called nearly all of the families of those killed since he took office."I have called, I believe, everybody — but certainly I’ll use the word virtually everybody".

Not only had the president not contacted virtually all the families of military personnel killed this year, the White House did not even have an up-to-date list of those who had been killed.

There's a flurry of emails between the White House and the Defense secretary’s office occurred about 5 p.m. on Oct. 17. The White House asked the Pentagon for information about surviving family members of all servicemembers killed after Trump’s inauguration so that the president could be sure to contact all of them, which shows that senior White House aides were aware on the day the president made the statement that it was not accurate — but that they should try to make it accurate as soon as possible, given the gathering controversy.

So once again, he's the best, the most, the biggest. The thing is, he had contacted some families but this driven obsession with his ratings led to his lying again and being caught out again.
I believe the correct number of families he has called is roughly 50%. Not bad considering his workload and what an emotionally draining exercise it must be to have to call theme specially knowing they died under orders effectively from the president.
Not sure where you got 50% from, I've not seen a figure given, but is that after this week when he scrambled to make more calls?

Either way, this is all of his own making. All he has to say was that it's part of the unpleasant duties of being president but one that he accepts, with sorrow etc.Instead he had to turn it into "I do it better than anyone else ever has"
Yes he has made some calls, written some letters, but to be honest Obama was present for a lot of the bodies coming home, not playing golf

Frederica Wilson made it an issue.
He made it an issue when he started to try to have a pop at Obama (Monday). It went down hill from there, others were involved of course (Wednesday). He is the instigator.

He also called the widow on the way to meet the coffin. Classy.
So true. When is appropriate would you say? Before the widow was formally informed? 1 minute after? 5 Minutes after? Maybe after the funeral? A year after the funeral? When the widow was on her deathbed from old age?
How about not on the day that you are collecting your loved one and not making it look like it is the result of your attack on the previous president and now you have to make it look good .

I expect that there is a process. Trump dug himself a hole and kept on going.

Don’t care who is in charge, if it were me, the last thing I would want is a leader pestering on such a day.
Speaking from experience it makes little difference when people call you in the first week weeks days or hours afterwards. Likewise what they say is largely irrelevant other than the old "sorry for your loss" statement. Simply found that baffling and at times annoying as its not their fault a person you loved is dead.

I cant disagree with this viewpoint. Unfortunately his biggest flaw is his monumental ego and determination to be the bestest. He does very much make a rod for his own back and its pretty fking embarrassing. If he could just keep his mouth in check and stop with all the tweets life would be a lot less of a headache for him.

As to the 50% that is the number I think Philip Defranco who has a youtube channel gave. I am not sure where he got his numbers but usually what he says checks out as he has a team of researchers working for him etc. And FYI he is not a huge trump fan. His position on trump is very sensible.

Dont attack Trump over silly debatable points. Attack him over 100% proven inaccuracies.

The thing is, Trump lied in order to try and make his predecessors look bad. This was shown to be a lie in very short order. He lied to make himself look good. This was also shown to be a lie in very short order. Then it turned out he promised somebody whose son had died $25,000 and he hadn't paid. (This isn't the first time he's welshed on promises. He did it ALL the time to Contractors).

In summary, this is just ONE SINGLE EXAMPLE proving what a lying sleazebucket Trump is. And he's been averaging an example a week for the last 2 years.

If it's any consolation to the Trumpophiliacs this will all be forgotten about by next week....

Today he played his 75th game of golf since inauguration. That’s roughly a quarter of his presidential days spent on a golf course.

Indeed.

Timing will never be good. I would not expect a leader to be able to call everyone all the time. I expect the administration to have a system in place to ease this along. Use it at a press conference for your favourite punch bag though for an event that was 12 day in the past, sorry, the only thing on the T dudes mind here belittling someone else and bigging himself up.

Now he has created a system where he will get measured more and taken to task more.

Trumop claims 2 to 3, but others say it's about 8 to 9. Trump is by all accounts genuinely good at golf, but despite that he brags and fibs about it.

Golf.com said:
Trump will sometimes respond to a shot he duffed by simply playing a second ball and carrying on as if the first shot never happened. In the parlance of the game, Trump takes floating mulligans, usually more than one during a round. Because of them it is impossible to say what he has actually shot on any given day, according to 18 people who have teed it up with Trump over the last decade, including SI senior writer Michael Bamberger, who has done so nine times. In 2007, Trump called Bamberger to brag about a 68 he had shot at Bel-Air Country Club in Los Angeles. Trump's handicap index is officially 2.8, but he has posted only three scores since '14. Els, a South Florida resident who has known Trump for many years, estimates he is "an eight or a nine." For Trump to shoot 68 on a tough course like Bel-Air would require him to play nearly perfectly from tee to green while making a number of substantial putts. One of his playing partners that day confirmed that Trump played "good," but that he took all the usual liberties common among everyday golfers: mulligans, gimmes, improved lies, etc. There was no mention of the 68 in a subsequent story, and Bamberger heard about it from Trump.

In a 2013 tweet aimed at entrepreneur Mark Cuban, Trump wrote, "Golf match? I've won 18 Club Championships including this weekend. @mcuban swings like a little girl with no power or talent. Mark's a loser." Trump has never made public a list of his club titles, and fact-checking calls to all of the Trump properties on this subject went universally un-returned. Winged Foot is the one non-Trump club at which the President is a member, and his name does not appear on any of the honor boards in the old clubhouse.
PS: For those who, like me, agree with Mark Twain about golf, a "mulligan" is a second chance or do-over. A "gimme" is a shot that the other players agree can count automatically without being played. Improving the lie (ooof!) is improving the position of the ball to make it more playable.

How to enjoy golf -

1. Put golf clubs in boot of car.

2. Leave them there and go for pleasant walk.

3. Go to pub.

Repeat as often as desired.

No-one else has this figure, not even the white house has said, because they just didn't know even the number of soldiers or their details. After the donald opened his mouth/tweets and turned this into a controversy there was a huge scramble to find out.
I think
I think Philip Defranco, in trying to build a news channel has probably , lets put this politely, 'suggested' a figure
