CBS tweet shows a 'large crowd' of how many actually engaging with pollce - 20-30 at most. Still a tiny fraction of the total crowd. Show me a single piece of footage of a few hundred breaking the law like that and you might start to convince me that the vast majority of the rally weren't peaceful.
Jesus fking Christ. Tell me where I have said the majority weren't peaceful?

The fact more got arrested than the group they were even protesting against showed up is pathetic enough.

There's a very dark group inside the left that if left to grow will be far worse than giving a few Nazi's a chance to make a dick of themselves.

The White House's response to this petition will be interesting... https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/formally...

Speaking of arresting protesters - how's the police investigation of the beating of DeAndre Harris at Charlottesville coming along?

That petition claims AntiFa have had influence in the killing of several police in the US? Is that alleging they had involvement in the Dallas officer shootings or something else?
I'd have thought there were other organisations with far stronger links to unlawful killings, yet they're not banned.

Still no warrants and no arrests. Just one guy tracked down via social media. It's not that impressive is it?

Meanwhile Trump and his family are costing the secret service a fortune in protection. More than 1,000 agents have already hit the federally mandated caps for salary and overtime allowances -- which were meant to last the entire year.

In Trump's administration, 42 people have protection, which includes 18 members of his family -- an increase from the 31 people who had Secret Service protection in Obama's administration.

Well as everyone loved Obama and everyone hates Trump I would see it as a sensible precaution

There may be a slight exaggeration there

@realDonaldTrump - 2013
"Let’s get out of Afghanistan. Our troops are being killed by the Afghanis we train and we waste billions there. Nonsense! Rebuild the USA."

"Trump expected to send 4,000 extra troops to Afghanistan"

Yes, but Trump has a goal. Which is "winning".

Just like during his election speeches ("there will be so much winning", "if I get elected there will be so much winning you may get bored of winning"), it's all about winning.

Now, if he could just write (yeah, I know) down on a piece of paper precisely what "winning" means in this context, that would be dandy. Because it sounds a lot like he has just committed the US to an open ended foreign conflict (after a 16 year warm up) with no clear end game or goal.

That will play badly with Bannon, Breitbart, and the nationalist crowd though. Haha.

Interesting speech by the donald. He almost sounds like a president when he reads from a prepared speech written for him. You can see with Bannon gone, the more liberal members have had their input and he took time to address Charlottesville fallout again.

He started with "A wound inflicted upon a single member of our community is a wound inflicted upon us all," and "When one part of America hurts, we all hurt. And when one citizen suffers an injustice we all suffer together." There's a clever speech writer took the sentiment of Obamas tweet and put it into the speach. "Love for America requires love for all of its people. When we open our hearts to patriotism, there is no room for prejudice, no place for bigotry and no tolerance for hate."

So finally after more than a week the administration found the correct response.

A video and transcript is available here, with analysis
http://www.npr.org/2017/08/21/54503...-on-afghanis...

Then he announced the US were sending troops back into Afganistan, but was vague about the plans. This despite being hugely critical in the past of troops overseas.
https://www.cnbc.com/2017/08/21/what-trump-said-ab...

There's no nation building planned, decreed essential in the analysis of the aftermath of Iraq, just concentrating on attacking the 'bad guys'. Suggesting he's relaxing the safeguards put in place for the troops to allow them to more effective. Those safeguards that stop more civilians being killed.

So, a classic Trump speach. Look at me I'm doing something, or will do something, but no details

His entire Presidency is based on destroying things. In other words, he concentrates on what he will bring down - whether it's North Korea, bad guys in Afghanistan, the current regime in Venezuela, the Washington establishment, Obama's policies etc etc.

The positive "building" stuff is very rare - unless you are talking about walls.

And the only topic where he is against bringing things down is the topic of Confederate statues.

Have they actually started building the wall yet? I mean, its one thing to talk about it, it is another thing to actually *do* it.
