Are you referring to the use of Batswana? It’s the correct demonym.

Like him or (more likely) loath him he is both the most powerful man in the world and extremely petty.

The French made a fuss over him and gave him a lovely lunch on top the Eiffel tower. He cant even visit us because of the protests that would result smile

Relations between countries also depend on people.
I'd be interested to know how making a fuss over him has benefitted the French?

President Johnson is said to have misreported the designation of the RS-71 aircraft, calling it the SR-71 by mistake. Because he was the President, SR-71 became the official designation.
Nope, was changed b4 he made the speech
I didn't say it was a true story. But it is a story that has done the rounds over the years.
And still not true despite being posted again !
Absolutely. But it just shows that issues such as aircraft designations can be messy - especially if the organisations leaking information about the aircraft are trying to throw people off the scent.

Maybe there really IS an F-52. They just added a bunch of guns and missiles to a B-52..

Sounds a bit like Dale Brown's first novel "Flight of the old Dog".

Well worth reading if you like stories involving modern military aviation.

The comments of Senator Durbin on video here (he was at the immigration meeting) are worth listening to.

I understand the point about 'tolerating him' for the sake of keeping everything placid, but I must confess to feeling rather proud of the UK that he would decide not to come here.

There will be some reckoning and soul-searching once this sorry episode is over, and I think there are some folks who supported Trump or even tolerated him who will come to be seen as having been VERY much on the wrong side of history.
Well that will be a question for American politicians and voters. It might be easy to miss, given how ubiquitous American media is over here, but our only interest is maintaining good relations with our closest ally and what treaties we wish to negotiate with them.

We seem to be able to maintain this distance with other national leaders. To take just one example we joined the Chinese led Asian Investment bank in order to keep them sweet. There wasn't any protest despite the fact that China is a repressive one party state.

Many other countries also seem quite able to both regard Trump as a rather dangerous idiot but also engage with him properly.
Yes I take your points, but it is he who has decided not to come, rather than the invitation being rescinded.

Errr... Sorry, Don. The US embassy in London (as you should probably know being the big boss) was never owned by the USA. It was leased to you by the Duke of Westminster. Hence, you didn't get peanuts, you got fk all. Have a nice day! #ICancelledMyTripToLondon

If the countries he referred to as **** holes are not **** holes why do people leave them and travel to the US to live ?

His comments were probably too wide, he should have said "some African countries are **** holes".

Whilst I don't know the exact numbers I don't imagine there is a huge number of Americans emigrating to Africa at the moment... Nor huge numbers of Europeans queuing up in Southern Italy waiting to make the trip across the med.

"In 2012, the United States provided nearly $12 billion in official development assistance (“ODA”) to African nations. The ODA is allocated to education, health, infrastructure and economic development programs in recipient countries. Currently, the United States allocates foreign aid to 47 African nations and USAID operates 27 missions on the continent." taken from borgenproject.org.

I wonder how many of these countries as so disgusted at his comments they will return their aid.

It's the language he uses.

And, of course, most of the population of the USA emanate from countries that were "sh***holes" at some point in their history. Indeed, the Pilgrim Fathers left England because it was a "sh***hole" as far as they were concerned.

(I'm assuming this is real - I lifted it from what appears to be an official Botswana govt. twitter account, but who knows these days...)

Correct term for a person from the nation, I believe. It's also a fabulous country to visit, we went for a safari, it was probably the best week of my life; what a stunning place
