Letting the police and security services "get on with it" is not an idea.

Imagination is clearly not your strong point.
What's your proposed alternative to letting the police and security services do their jobs?

Specifics would be good, not just vague dog whistling of "cut the problem off at the source" or "stop importing the problem".

What steps do you think should be taken and on what timescale?

Oh, it's the 'mobs' fault we're getting attacked? I see.
Who are the 'mob'? I've never come across one.
Is it people who don't wish to be blown up by inbred fkwits?

The "mob" are the ones who keep wailing "something must be done" without realising that "lots of things ARE being done".

No, its the inbred fkwitsmobs need to see something happening to stop attacks that results in the police arresting a couple of people on their 'they could be up to no good but we've got no evidence' after any such attack. A few days later, having done something and having found that there is no evidence, most of those people get released. As a result they're now more likely to be pee'd off at the police for having been arrested for no good purpose, particularly if it gave their mum a heart attack, hence increasing the possibility that they might become a terrorist.
Mean while in the background unseen the police go on doing their job. That doesn't show up on twitter and the evening news and so the mob demands that we 'deport all these people back to where they came from' or 'stop them coming in'.

It's people who react hysterically to these events, as the perpetrators wish them to. See this very thread for examples.

It stops them from looking logically at what the police and security services are doing in the background, because they can't see people being thrown in to the back of vans on the front pages of their newspapers.

So they scream that more must be done, without having any realistic ideas of what they mean by that.

(Other than by locking up everybody who looks vaguely like the perpetrator, and moaning about not being able to say that out loud)

If sensible immigration processes were in place people wouldn't need to say anything.

In which case it sounds like you have absolutely zero idea what the UK's immigration policies actually are.

Feel free to prove me wrong and tell me which immigration policy isn't "sensible".

To use some of your own words, are you really that stupid?

Countdown respectfully. Whilst we are somewhat opposite I have a genuine likeness for you and know you to be well meaning and no more liklely to support a bomber than myself but
Sometimes you just have to give way on threads and let the other go off on their own tangents. You can never win with some people and then it will always lower itself to insults and abuse non of which are palatable or necessary .
Put another way lifes too short and yours in particular I would like to see go on to a ripe old age.
take care of yourself and give your daughters a hug at the end of the day looking out for them is what we both do.

Agreed on the being nice to the family stuff, well said. Priorities are not arguing with people on the internet.

However I am not the one who starts the abuse, ever. I think if you have nothing nice to say etc..

I don't know Countdown but I imagine his blood pressure a bit high and his children well disciplined.

TD - fair points. Descending to petty name-calling is stupid on my part and ultimately self-defeating.

Immigration processes in this country are ridiculous. I know people who have paid over £2K to be allowed to get a job and pay tax here. Madness.

That's peanuts for a well paid job role to swallow. You should try getting a work visa for the USA.

Shame he didn't make particularly good TATP. If he had, he probably would have blown himself up in his kitchen and a trial wouldn't be necessary.
