Scotland Yard have said that bloke is wanted for something else, unrelated to this incident.

Mail are reporting that a journalist was told by Police that a second device was de-activated. Might not be true though.

Seems there has also been a knife attack on the Paris metro this morning. Definitely wolf attacks.

Yup, chap on a forum i use just posted the following (he's ex-forces):

That ladies and gentleman is what a failed IED looks like. Note the gas canister in the bucket and the wires hanging out the back. Stay safe people if you see s**t like that or something looks suspicious get as far away as you can or at least put some buildings or solid walls between you and it!!!

Now the police are likely to say that it is not known yet what caused the explosion. but from that picture I can tell you now that was designed to kill and maim. Note that it has a gas canister in the centre of the bucket with various wires hanging out of it. I would hazard a guess that packed around the cylinder within the bucket was shards of glass, nails and ball bearings. I should imagine they were hoping the bottle would explode but instead it's ignited the gas which has gone down the carriage and burned people. So if you see anything like that get as far away as possible or put something solid between you and it.

The handle looks a bit flimsy to me?

Also the "lights" mentioned look like crimp connectors to me. The one in the foreground is one that has snapped off on one side.

Totally agree. It's the only way - even if might feel like playing whack-a-mole - to keep apprehending them and for the rest of us to carry on as normal.

Hopefully they will get a bit more intel, once more, from this attacker too.

I just can't look past that wiring, what a bodge job. I think we can rule out anyone who has ever wired so much as a plug.

I think that's one of the ways that these guys are able to "get away" with it, they are what could be considered amateur rather than professional bomb makers.

But it works. KISS. (thankfully not in this case though)

These are not pros, they just take simple instructions and follow them. The more complex you make it the more likely it wont work.

Sky had a very informative guy on about 20 min ago who said the devices look very similar to the ones used in Boston.

I thought the Boston bomb was a pressure cooker filled with shrapnel?

Both containers with an airtight seal.
