There is no such thing as an 'Accidental Discharge'.
You either decide to discharge a firearm or you don't. If your firearm discharges when you haven't decided for it so to do, then you are:
a. Negligent.
b. A bloody dangerous fool.
End Of.
Ever heard of the Remington 700??You either decide to discharge a firearm or you don't. If your firearm discharges when you haven't decided for it so to do, then you are:

Guns have wheels or are fitted to ships.
When I did a spot of infanteering I am sure my gun had a bipod.G15 also forgot about tanks, but then again our ones still have rifled barrels too AFAIK, whereas the Danes used the smooth-bore GUNned Leopard 2 in Afghanistan, which allowed them to use Canister rounds...
Generally, Gun = smooth barrel. Rifle = Rifled barrel.

I am aware of your quote and couldn't give a sideways flying..
This is the UK, not feckin Hollywood.
I reiterate, 'guns' are fitted with wheels or are are fitted to ships.
Best you leave it to the professionals wee lad...
Are you as needlessly aggressive and patronising at work? This is the UK, not feckin Hollywood.

If you're still in the RAF (I can't be bothered to go back and work it out from your other posts), I feel sorry for the lads that work for you.
Given your "Made in Cranwell" air, I'm guessing you're not an ex-ranker?

Yup! You mean the General Purpose Machine-GUN? There are also plenty of smooth-bore shotGUNs in the UK. Didn't know you could only mount them on wheels or a ship, but that should make game season a LOT more interesting in the future...

I used to do some target shooting (yes, I know, girly stuff). I seem to remember my S&W .357 Magnum handgun had a rifled barrel
Indeed and my current Colt .45ACP and Glock 19 handgun's are rifled too. A 'gun' has a high muzzle velocity and a relatively flat trajectory. So I own 'guns' irrespective of what some Military-types want to call them. I have known a chap who experienced an 'accidental' discharge of his firearm, the gun in question having a round in the chamber, safety off and custom hair trigger. No injury but he was a tool for 'throwing' the holstered weapon onto the table when he got home from work...
I know many folks in SA who carry their guns in such a way as to be able to get a shot off as fast as possible. I always keep the safety on until the last second personally. In my shooting incidents, I've had the 'luxury' of time to prepare my handgun in the moment before firing but I totally get that you want to be quick to shoot when your car window is smashed in and a gun appears.

Plenty of older firearms discharge from being dropped/overheating/worn parts etc .You either decide to discharge a firearm or you don't. If your firearm discharges when you haven't decided for it so to do, then you are:

c. It's old ( and bitter ) .
