Remember all the Dokic shenanigans?

It was fun, even though 'Mrs D' got on my tits.

Now 'amateur sleuthing' is banned and I have done none. Honest Guv.

However all with G15 'girl' may not be as it seems. All in my very humblest opinion.
Pickle surprise?

This thread will not be complete until one of SP&L's disgruntled policemen comes on to moan that it's the result of police cuts, and is probably specifically the fault of Teresa May.

If they had enough money they'd buy super safe guns, or something.

hehe
But that none of us could possibly understand...

Problem with a Glock-like safety is that it doesn't stop the thing going Bang if the trigger is inadvertently pulled.

What? On the Internet? Someone is not as they seem?

Well that's blown this whole 'forum' malarkey for me now! biggrin

(Agreed BTW)

If the implication is that GG is not a girl, tough titty sunbeam

I have met the lady, she doesn't need to prove owt to me

I hope to see her again next November

She has lots of friends wishing the same thing too, she doesn't always argue

smile

I lumped Gimpys around long enough and for enough times to call them "That effing gun" and will always treasure the memories

Not quite as keen to do it again any time

Retirement pays

Fair dos - in that case, can you edumacate her on the whole 'gun' thing then? She's said it a few times now and seems to like arguing about it. smile

There are a few (not many) PHers whose vast interest in - and genuine knowledge of - certain subjects makes their contributions always welcome (by me anyway). Each of their contributions is generally well thought out, intelligent and interesting - and can be pretty authoritative. If they occasionally get it slightly wrong, so what?

Eric Mc and Ginetta G15G are both in this set and PH is the richer for it.

On googling, apparently Glock pistols have a huge ND rate due to its lack of a physical safety and its low trigger pressure. Not sure I would trust them unless I was in a situation where a quick draw and shot was necessary. A shopkeeper I know keeps an unholstered Glock stuck down the front of his waistband, I wonder if he has seen the stats...?

Meanwhile back on topic...

Interestingly it appears the Met average about 1 ND a fortnight, with 3 injuries in the previous 5 years, although about half the incidents were tazers.

The Met ND stats are appalling, but the taser incidents are shocking.

Getting wrong isn't the issue here, it's the poor "attitude" that is used when an incorrect point is questioned which grates with people. I mean everyone gets things wrong but saying the equivalent of "I am right and you know nothing" when you are wrong is always going to get some peoples backs up a bit.

I'm guessing the familiarity reduces the "danger" factor, making accidents more common. I know when we did yearly firearms training, because it was so rare, everyone was a bit wary. If we'd been issued firearms as a daily carry instead that "wariness" would have rubbed off and they'd have been treated like any other "tool". I saw this quite a bit on Ops where people who wouldn't normally daily carry a weapon where now carrying one everywhere and everything about the "safety" just relaxes slightly, even with people leaving weapons behind in mess halls etc.

I remember a friend of mine who was a member of the mets diplomatic protection squad telling me about how she managed to shoot herself with a taser whilst on the indoor range, not uncommon from what she said. Thankfully shes now in charge of horses rather than guns and a little safer for it smile

Surely there's a lot more people killed in the UK in horse related incidents than firearms incidents biggrin

A tasered horse might be a bit of a handful.

Nope, can't see any bullet holes from where I'm (still) standing.

Sorry Aya but I disagree with you.

I have no axe to grind with GG, nor do I generally frequent the particular parts of the forum she (must, I assume) frequent as I'm figuring that to have such a dedicated following, she must post ‘reasonably’ somewhere - wherever that might be.

However, more than any other poster that I can think of, I find myself astonished at some of the condescending, patronising, self-righteous rudeness she displays when the opportunity arises to belittle another poster simply to big herself up.

I don’t think that level of rudeness would be acceptable off the internet, and I don’t see why it should be acceptable here. I don’t think I’m alone in these thoughts.
