So we never got hover cars but we're getting a hoover car?
Well, the Sinclair C5 was built in the Hoover factory.

Considering how people line up to blow off Elon Musk you would have thought there would have been some more support.

Good luck to the guy

So he's been hiring top execs and people in suits as "experts" on how to build cars? this can only go one way and it's not the way he thinks.
I think you'll be surprised
Heh, yep, that's a classic PH received wisdom. You see, the powerfully-built company director types all worked their way up from the bottom with nothing more than a City & Guilds qualification. Can still operate every machine on the shop floor etc. etc.

Of course, nobody who wears a suit to work has ever been responsible for the launch of a highly successful and profitable product... rolleyes

Whereas, every ex racing driver with a real passion for cars has enjoyed great success in the automotive industry...

They must have a good number of experienced electic motor engineers, I could imagine they'd have that side all wrapped up, probably all of the electrical and drive system too. The rest of it - I'd think they'd need to partner with another company or find vast sums of money? Given his cleaners are made in Malaysia maybe Proton or Perodua?

But that's just not the case anymore, 20 years ago perhaps, but not now. The only people who "work their way up" these days are ex-McDonalds workers with a degree in <insert useless waste of time degree here> or an OU degree in a useful subject, but absolutely no idea what they're doing.

They'll probably poach a load of Honda engineers to work on it as they aren't far from Swindon.

These cars won't get much use - they'll just be sitting in people's garages collecting dust.....

It's interesting how we build people up to knock them down.

I think this is very good news, and I wish him the very best of luck.

I look forward to seeing the finished product.

Hopefully it will be good for our economy.

Dyson has apparently had 400 engineers working on this for 2.5 years, and it will be on sale in a couple of years. He also said it would not be cheap.
Good luck to him. In a consumer survey of 96K households, Dyson needed less repairs than any other make.

The car batteries had better have more juice than the crap ones he uses to power his hand held vacuums.

Good to see this confirmed. The influx of people with "interesting" previous employers has been ramping up.

A bit like other electric cars but more heavily marketed & not quite as good?

Target audience - people who swallow marketing nonsense but won't complain/realise they have a slightly inferior product.

If it is a well built as his cleaners get a bus pass, at least you will get there.
I've had our Dyson since 2001 used continuously not damaged or broken in any way. 16 years later and it's still perfectly fine - DC14 Hepa. I'd love to get the latest one but given the current one works perfectly no need.
