Really?

Isn’t it possible to have an iota of sympathy for the parents?

There are two obvious views here;
1) the McCanns were complicit in the child’s death
2) the McCanns were woefully inadequate parents

The evidence for 1) has been milling around forever but nothing moves forward. 2) has been the source of much of the content on this thread. Alongside their media management.
And it may indeed be true.
But that does not alter the fundamental truth that if 2) then they had their child taken away and they will always have to live with the god awful guilt they must feel. ‘Fair game’ is the kind of bks Scientologists come out with and is repugnant. If as most of the thread views it, it comes down to terrible parenting then surely ‘fair game’ is a terribly inhuman response?

They lost a child. Who is dead. And we can only hope died quickly. As a parent it’s worst nightmare territory.
I'll spare my sympathy for my mate who's 4 year old died of cancer after a year of flying to USA for treatment etc, that sort of thing
Personally I don't leave my children unattended anywhere they are too precious, certainly not in a holiday apartment several minutes walk away for a meal. Babies & a toddler. Insane.

Officers have now narrowed in on a ‘foreign man’ who was in the Algarve when she went missing aged three in 2007. British and Portuguese police are set to probe a ‘new clue and suspect’ according to local media reports. The Correio de Manha newspaper said detectives are now ‘nearer to knowing what happened to Madeleine.’ It comes after a mystery tip-off to detectives examining the 12-year-long case. Officers are said to be looking into an alleged foreign paedophile who was in Portugal in 2007. Policia Judiciaria were joined by Scotland Yard officers in Porto recently. It is believed to be the first face-to-face meeting since the new suspect came to light. It is not clear if the man’s current whereabouts are known.

It starts cool down for winter there in October so I expect their investigation will last approximately 4/5 months.

Just started watching a series on Netflix today called exhibit A. It’s about people who are supposedly innocent but serving time due to dodgy forensics. There is an episode about an abducted / murdered child case in America where the “evidence” that convicted the father was alerts from Martin Grime and one of his dogs

And getting pissed up too while at the meal.

You go on holiday with the kids it’s a family holiday that means early to bed/back to the room. Naturally you can have drink etc on the balcony of the room OR in the scenario the McCanns had one stays in the room then switch over every 30-45mins. Simple.

But no they wanted to pretend they didn’t have kids and behave as such. Sadly the outcome is she’s gone and her two younger siblings will likely never see her again and their lives torn from the agony.

As hilariously poor taste that is, it actually made me reflect and feel really sorry for Sean and Amelie. What a situation to be born into.

Absolutely. It’s a horrible situation that there’s been no justice for that little girl.

Just like it’s a horrible situation that there’s never been an update to that picture; a projected image that would show what she might look like now. She’d be nearly a grown woman. You’d think it’d be instructive to focus the public’s mind on who they’re looking for now, instead of reinforcing in people’s mind that a they’re looking for a 4 year old.

Just another uniquely unusual circumstance in this case
