He also shot at the aviation fuel tanks on the edge of McCarran airport. One round penetrated a half full tank and another lodged in the outer skin.

It seems he deliberately broke two windows so he could better line of sight to the concert and the airport perimeter, which was 2,000 feet away.

I don't have the stats at hand, but I believe there are around 300 million guns in the US, imagine the ammo people have stocked. Getting rid of that is pretty much impossible.
Finite stocks would be... finite.
Unless you can make the ammo yourself of course, in which case happy days, no more finite!

So do you think the US could start small. How about allowing the records to be computerised and not allowing modifications to weapons that increased fire rate or magazine capacity from manufacturers spec.
Yes I posted before this is a good idea, although manufacturers spec still means large capacity magazines. Along with allowing the CDC to study gun violence from a public health view, background checks for private gun sales, but just as importantly, 'stand your ground' laws encourage confrontation.

So I guess those New York cops a few years ago were intending to hit all those bystanders (10?) and miss the suspect?
That's hardly a common occurrence, given all the times all over the world that police pull out a pistol. Also none were seriously injured and most of those injured were injured by flying debris and ricochets, which could still happen with rifles.

Can anyone confirm that the shooter has 2 convictions for child molestation in the late 80's/early 90's?
He seems to have at least 4 known aliases which is making checking records lots of
fun.
Only place I've seen any mention of that is one the right wing nutter sites.. .
The public records are a right wing nutter site?
Because that's where I've been looking.

CNN have just published an article saying he 'flew under the radar'.
He'd hardly have been able to do that at this point if what you're saying is true.

My kids are exposed to both guns and Kinder eggs. That's freedom.

What amuses me the most about the 'guns keep you free from oppressive Government' idea trotted out by any gun loving American is that you have allowed yourselves to be so far from free.
In the UK many of the draconean rules would never pass scrutiny.
Between all your federal agencies your population is probably the most monitored and with the fewest rights.
Probably explains why I spent my 30th birthday in LA but couldn't celebrate with a drink as I had left my passport at the hotel.

I also remember at the same age not being able to buy a round of drinks at a gig until the bartender to see all the people I was buying drinks for.

I have visited the US many times and the place does seem to have all sorts of rules that would seem draconian to ridiculous over here.

So their guns didn't even manage to stop that.

Would love to see the stats on when guns were used to defend or protect.

So now an armed population that cause a nervous police force to be unapproachable and trigger happy.

Example the Australian woman who called the police then approached their car in her PJ'S to tell them what she had seen and was shot dead for her troubles.

I can beat that.

I spent 2 weeks in the US (Oregon) a few years ago for work. I was 35 at the time, and I was with my boss who was older, probably about 40, grey hair, going thin on top. So both of us were obviously not 21 or less.

We try and get a slab of beer one evening. Boss goes in, no ID, they won’t serve him. He comes out, I take the piss mercilessly about his inability to buy beer. I go in, clutching my passport. They won’t serve me either, because I might be buying beer for the man whose age they couldn’t verify. Boss then takes the piss about my inability to buy beer.

We go up the street to another store and do it the right way round. Thankfully it didn’t cross our minds to buy some assault weapons and shoot up the first store.

Police have said he wasn't known to then either - presumably if he had convictions they wouldn't have said that?

Can you post up links to these public records then?

That website is absolutely stupid.

"experts noting that this type of charger is used to charge a CP502520 3.0V 600mAh Li-MnO2 Non-rechargeable Thin Cell Battery"

Okay then.

Then goes on to talk about how the CIA did 911 and LV shooter worked for the CIA as a "gun runner."

Absolute nonsense.
