How is it not supporting rapists to challenge the severity of their punishment? You wouldn’t be supporting them if you wanted a longer sentence would you.
Oh you know, free will ...
Does that make any sense? You’re perfectly free to challenge the sentence but you’re supporting a rapist by doing so. It’s not hard.

Something tells me the Aryan Brotherhood won’t be very welcoming to a Jewish person.
Or maybe they will?! Every day is a school day on PH.

I would suggest he was pretty much a one-off case, and tolerated due to his ‘partial Jewish background’.

Most Aryan Brotherhood ‘enthusiasts’ look like this friendly chap:

Rape's a vile crime. Harsh sentences (if this can even be considered that) should be par for the course.

I'd have harsh sentences for any physical violence against another.
He got 3 years for the 3rd decree rape (not that I know what a 3rd degree rape is in the US legal system).

His main crime was the sexual assault one which he got 20 years.

Wrong.

You can disagree with the sentence but not support the crime.

I do wonder this every time someone wealthy turns up to court.

If it was looking like you were bang to rights, potential lengthy sentence, and you had $50-100 Million in the bank, why on earth wouldn’t you just disappear in a musical instrument case like the boss of Nissan?

You could have quite the life in some pleasantly warm non-extradition countries with that kind of cash.
Correct. Move to Europe, continue your career, and win awards for decades.

Most likely because of his pure arrogance and wealth employing the best legal team, thought a slap on the wrist was coming.

In a paper I read today it was mentioned the judge said HW's sentence was steep because of the 90 other 'offences'. How does that work if he hasn't been tried for the other 'offences'?

Wrong.

You can also disagree with the sentence, not support the crime but also not really think it's a big enough deal to go on an internet forum and tell everyone about your concern because even though you are anonymous it makes people think you've got odd priorities and you don't really want that.

The judge stated the sentence was 'steep'. Why shouldn't the fact be mentioned on here?

I think you're the wrong one pal
Go on then what sentence is appropriate for someone who has spent most of their life abusing and raping people?

Do you have a link to the Judge's comments? I have just been trying to google it and can't find anything. I would like to read them.

Thanks

As I have already said it was mentioned in the paper I read this morning. The Telegraph IIRC.

I just absolutely cannot find anywhere that the Judge stated the sentence was steep, in fact I can't find any record of the judge making any statement or comment.

Bit of sentencing commentary form the judge here
https://www.nytimes.com/2020/03/11/nyregion/harvey...

If you were a victim of abuse, I don't think it is long enough.

Thanks for that.

The Judge didn't really say much, but what he did say was telling:

The judge said that while Mr. Weinstein had no criminal record, several women had testified about other sexual assaults beyond the two for which he had been found guilty.

“Although this is a first conviction, it is not a first offense,” Justice Burke said. “There is evidence before me of other incidents of sexual assault involving a number of women, all of which are legitimate considerations for sentence.”

Over 100 women have come forward.

Whether that was, or was not a factor in the sentencing, suggesting it was too harsh has to be putting yourself on the wrong side.
