Yet Roman Polanski is still a member of the 'oscars' guild, probably Bafta too, after drugging and anally assaulting an under-age girl. Double standards or less heinous crime?

On a related note, some might wish to search for Rupert Myers, a proselytising Barrister & Journalist with a large presence on Twitter up until yesterday afternoon.
I wish you lot would just state it rather than hinting at things and making me search for it. It is all public:

In evolutionary biological terms, these guys are known as "sneaky or sneaker fkers" . It's a well established trait right across the animal kingdom, from crustacea to mammals. smile

In many instances, Kriss allegedly forced his tongue into her mouth, grabbed her butt and breasts, and even twisted her neck to force a kiss. “This physically hurt,” she wrote, adding that he made these maneuvers multiple times throughout the night, in public. He also commanded her to drink alcohol despite her repeated refusals."

why didn't she just chin him and fck off out the bar then?

It's all getting very silly and massively degrading the real cases in my opinion
Exactly , gives women little credit to be able to articulate their wishes

Perhaps he was confused because she was up for it in the past

“I’d like for a moment to add some conext to the events described, which I hope will make them more explicable if not more excusable,” [sic] he wrote. “By the time of the night described in the accusation, she and I had, as she mentions, previously met twice and we had an existing sexual relationship. The behaviour she describes was informed by that fact.”

ok - so still no excuse but more of an explanation. Quite uncool of the lady in question to not mention that fact.

It's all getting a bit silly. Everyone with a Y chromosome in Hollywood will be locked up in San Quentin jail and all new movies next year will be about cooking or handbags and stuff.
Are you in a competition with yourself over who can be the most continually pointless and fetid poster?
He seems to be trying to establish a reputation as some kind of inverse renaissance man, one with opinions on everything, all wrong and mostly unpleasantly expressed.

Whoa fella hang fire
She's a sister and if she says its like that then like that it is.
Claims like this just make a lot of people more cynical.

Remember when Weinstein was first called out he said something like he would go to rehab and pend all his time attacking the NRA?

Any psychologists here is there something known in psychology where people who know they are rapist arsoles try and redeemdeem themselves by outwardly virtue signaling to the rooftops like these three?

I was listening this morning when I heard him say this. It was in front of a live audience. I sometimes wonder if politicians sometimes say things in front of live audiences that they otherwise wouldn't if say in a more normal one-to-one interview in a TV or radio studio.

When being interviewed for TV or radio, they are usually much more careful in how they frame their answers, preferring if possible, to avoid answering at all.

When speaking in front of audiences they seem to get carried away and want to play it for laughs rather than wanting to sound serious.

It has happened so often that politicians have been caught out this way that I am sure there must be something in it.

Was Ratner's famous self-demolition not also a joke that was well received by the audience?

I imagine most humour to be audience dependent. Even stand-up comedians have noted that there's some jokes they can get away with near the end of a set that they could never try near the beginning as it takes a while to bring the audience on the journey and warm them up to your humour.

People make way too much of this stuff, far too easily offended.

Apologising for that is pathetic.

It was a joke, anyone can see that anyone.

Soon you literally won't be able to express an opinion on the weather without consulting your PR team, it really is daft.

I wish Gove would tell people to get a grip on themselves and stop making a mountain out of a molehill.

Except you can express an opinion on any subject you choose, even the weather. Gove is free to make any joke he wishes & no one forced him to apologise for anything He recognised he'd crossed a line in a climate of shocking revelations regarding a sexual predator & used (finally) some judgement. A pity you don't possess the same filters.

Are you hoping I'll entertain that or that a bunch of like minded 'back in my day' which is exactly where we aren't mouth breathers will rush in to applaud you?
