Won't stop the 46mph lane blockers occupying lanes 2 and 3 though, will it

Or retain the 50mph limit.

On a three / two lane carriageway ban HGVs from coming out of Lane 1 and all the stress of having HGVs at 56mph will no longer exist.

On a four lane carriageway ban HGVs from coming out of Lane 1 / 2 and all the stress of having HGVs at 56mph will no longer exist.
As a part-time trucker, I - and I'm sure all other truckers - would be in full support of such a plan, so long as it equally applied to non-HGV vehicles ie. they must only travel in lanes 2 and 3 and not be allowed in lane 1. We could continue to trundle along at a real 50mph on the cruise control while all the dithering car drivers flap about in the other lanes, braking to 30mph whenever they see one of the SPECS cameras and generally not having a clue what to do. smile

That's the plan, the lanes are only for the HGVs, knock yourselves out.

That is my dream scenario - however the RHA I think wield too much power.
Why they are allowed into lane 3 of 4 lane stretches is beyond me - every day I use the M62 and the Lancs - Saddleworth stretch, four lanes up a very long incline is just 3 lanes of trucks elephant racing, and one lane of cars trying to squeeze past.

So you propose for non-HGV types to be banned from lane 1? I didn't see that mentioned anywhere in your grand plan but if that's what you want, fine with me! It would certainly reduce my journey times not having dithering car drivers slowing me down all the time. smile

One teensy problem - how would cars enter and exit the motorway?

They would have a half mile allowance either side of the junctions and if not vacated from lane 1 it would be instant nukage from orbit. spin
