Indeed, the left believe passionately in redemption...provided you're one of their own.

I'm sure PH will be equally as harsh on the actions of Chris Heaton-Harris. He wants the names of anyone who questions the true faith.
Indeed. O'mara is just an offensive dhead.
Heaton-Harris's actions are potentially far more disturbing.

..and if he was saying those sort of things at 16 and is still saying them at 26 then they are obviously ingrained prejudices that he is not going to grow out of.

However he says he's 'on a journey' and is now educated and, furthermore, Owen Jones has pronounced in the Guardian that he can become a shining beacon as a reformed individual and show others the error of their ways.

I can just imagine Owen affording a Tory the same 'second chance', especially after his vile comments on homosexual men

Give me a break!
The Daily Politics today was so cliche ridden with the "he is on a journey" bks spouted by a labour colleague today as she repeated the same phrase about "journey" over and over again having first agreed what he said was unacceptable.

He isn't on "a journey", the mask just slipped thats all.

Cheers,

Tony

As a amusing aside.

He didn't own a suit and when the count was going in his favour had to go to Tesco to buy one! Would be a fun tale for his autobiography, if you ignore the bigotry and such wink

Will he get sacked from the Labour Party? It seems to take something really bad for that to happen, not just some immature comments. It's not as if he's said something outrageous like condemning the systematic raping of young white girls.

The best the Guardian commenters could do was engage in a bit of feeble whataboutery. I hope we are above that sort of thing on here.

Guido is loving this - and there's more to come apparently.

"Jared O’Mara wrote about “sexy little slags” and “teenage girls” being “fingered”, Guido can reveal"

I can see how the SNP got caught-out somewhat when they won a boat-load of seatsthey weren't expecting to.

But surely Labour knew they were in with a very good chance of winning Clegg's seat - and this is the calibre of person they put up for the job?

Out of millions, this was their guy?

And it wasn't as if Guido didn't give fair warning that he would be interested in O'Mara's past:
back during the campaign before he ended Clegg's parliamentary career:

I'm not sure this even worthy of being a news item these days. Even if he does have to resign his seat (which he won't) he will only be replaced with another Momentum twonk who will go on and win it again. None of the other parties are in any shape to win a by-election at the moment.

But all that will happen is that he will be suspended for a while and then will be quietly let back in on day everyone is looking the other way.

Much as he is clearly an obnoxious little bandwagon jumping turd, I'm really not sure that trying to bring down an MP for internet posts is actually worth the effort, especially when most of them clearly have their hands in the proverbial till and are milking the public purse for all they can get rather than concentrating on making the country a better place for the electorate to live in, whatever their politics. The press and websites like Guido should be addressing the fact that there is no leadership coming from the bridge and all the politicians who should be helping save the ship, are robbing the holds and the pursers safe, before jumping over the side.

I won't be entering politics because based on these exposes if anyone finds some of the stuff I posted on the late, lamented Popbh I'd be stuffed before I even started.

In all honesty thats what will probably happen. A suspension purely acts to 'let it all blow over'.

Surely you mean "let back in following an inquiry every bit as robust as the one into anti-semitism"?

Ironically if Clegg hadn't watered down the right to recall for MPs then he'd be in with a chance of getting his seat back. As it is unless the twonk resigns, and he won't, all the party can do is remove the whip.

Yes, and I know this is PH, but there are thousands of capable, intelligent, bright, honest people available to both main parties. Finding 650 'proper people' shouldn't be beyond us.

I think they both do a generally terrible job of selecting their candidates.

This particulary instance is a duesie. (doozey? doozie? doozy?) belter.

I believe it's 'doozy'; the etymology is very PH.
