I don't think there's any conspiracy but, surely, anyone can see that the BBC is at least left leaning?
ThisI find their London-centric Hipster flavour irritating at times, but the vehemence of the accusations of left wing bias to be found on here says more about the posters than the Beeb.

How many of those newspapers are 100% state owned? Private papers can bleat as much biass as they like, we don’t have to pay for them...

Actually, compared to all the national newspapers I can think of, the BBC is remarkably impartial.

The BBC is not state owned, state funded or state controlled.Roofless Toothless said:

It is funded by the TV Licence, which the government neither collects nor controls.
It is a state corporation that operates under a charter and is governed by trustees who have the responsibility to ensure that its output is balanced and unbiased.
Newspapers have no such requirement and print what the owners see fit. And you do have to pay for them. I don't recall my local newsagent giving away copies of the Daily Mail or The Guardian. Of course, you don't have to buy them if you don't want to read what they contain. If you don't like what is on the BBC you don't have to buy a TV set that can receive it. (You get the radio for free, however.)
Personally I think that the trustees are effective in maintaining the balance of the BBC, and its editorial stance is a lot more unbiased than the press.
But if your own political perspective is on the right, media that occupy the centre ground will inevitably appear to be on the left. Which is why the vehemence of those posters who criticise the BBC tells me a lot about where their own political opinions are based.
There are those on the left who see the BBC as part of the Establishment.

I think that the BBC does a good job in steering a centre path.

And you set where the center is do you ?...seems to me you have the same logic as the BBC has developed and you live in the same bubble. It is funded by the TV Licence, which the government neither collects nor controls.

As the Eu ref was 48/52 (ish)....do you think the BBC presented in the ratio ?

Well, I think you ask a very fair question. I set where the centre is with regard to the way I see the world myself. It's a subjective thing, I suppose, and I have no right nor desire to make others have to agree with me.As the Eu ref was 48/52 (ish)....do you think the BBC presented in the ratio ?
I do have the right to state what I think myself, and that is what I have done, just like everyone else does on here.
However, the fact that the BBC gets criticism from both the left and the right makes me think they must be somewhere near the centre.
I have helped hi-jack this thread already by getting into this debate, and I hesitate to do so further by getting on to Brexit, but I would say that the BBC coverage was somewhere between the Mail and the Guardian - but that's a pretty big chasm.
Personally, I think I saw enough to make me think they made every effort to present both sides of the argument in the run up to the referendum. I imagine the trustees were watching the situation pretty closely, too.

Can you explain why BBC top jobs are advertised exclusively in the Guardian?
I don't read (and I can't stand) the Guardian. For that matter I don't read any national newspaper. However forgive me if I'm wrong, but my understanding is that the Guardian has a very large media jobs section, in fact, the only media jobs section in any national newspaper. It is also available foc on line.

Perhaps this explains it.

I do quite fancy Emily Thornberry though.
There, I said it.
Jesus Christ man. What's wrong with you? It isn't even like her personality, intelligence or charisma can make up for her looks. Of course that predominantly because she has no personality, intelligence or charisma. There, I said it.
What a frightful female she is.

We still haven't heard a peep from him or his cronies, but the Lib Dems and Tories are still sending out regular updates to the constituents.
O'Mara, seems to be more interested in giving it the "big I am" with his all student sycophants down Eccleshall Road.
Life on the gravy train is not all it has cracked up to be.
