she will have had zero input to this. She is too dumb to work on important legislation. We all know it, so Johnson must be painfully aware.

She might have came up with this bit :

“ Last September, the government announced an additional £30 million to take down the worst offenders and safeguard victims.”

What is a ‘worst’ offender and why not provide additional provide funding to take down the less than worst offenders?

I don't think Priti has much input into this. There is nothing highlighting how we are going to battle counter-terrorism...........

Who would have thought that the shameful Tory Home Sec would allow a 11 year old girl to face deportation and probable female genital mutilation, to a country see doesn't know.

Sometimes I wonder what kind of people think it is a good idea to vote for the likes of Priti Patel.........

There are plenty out there. Now and then political and economic circumstances allow them to crawl out from under their rocks.

Yes please. But Patel couldnt have hacked it in that comparison. Thats akin to comparing Boris with Churchill.

I'm struggling with what the case of the child facing possible FGM and who Patel wants to deport has to do with Patel being "non white" or what it has to do with Labour confused

Do you think it's a good piece of decision making by Patel?

Interesting how things change over time

When the 1951 refugee contention was introduced this was how it defined a refugee

Convention said:
As a result of events occurring before 1 January 1951 and owing to well-founded fear of being persecuted for reasons of race, religion, nationality, membership of a particular social group or political opinion, is outside the country of his nationality and is unable or, owing to such fear, is unwilling to avail himself of the protection of that country; or who, not having a nationality and being outside the country of his former habitual residence as a result of such events, is unable or, owing to such fear, is unwilling to return to it.
Now differing social customs around the world are used as reasons to try to claim asylum.

200 Million females around the world are estimated to have undergone FGM.

We have laws to prevent British citizens undergoing the practice. For the rest of the world probably best to focus a part of our aid on education and public information available.

Of course we should do that.

Do you think we should be actively sending children back to those countries when they have lived here for 8 years and face that practice if they are returned to one of those countries?

That's the uncomfortable question with this case and Patel seems to believe the answer to it is "yes".

Yes, things have changed since 70 years ago. However a few of the original definitions in your quoted piece apply to this 11 year old girl who Patel sees fit to oust from the UK.

Do you support Patel in this or not?

What has that got to do with anything? No one has brought her ethnicity into this. She is derided because quite frankly, she is useless and a very poor Home Sec.

I’m sure Diane Abbott, David Lamy, Dawn Butler, etc, etc love representing a party that clearly despises them.

My word, what a statement!

I can only assume you have already been enthusiastically celebrating the re-opening of English pubs this morning?

I do not know the details of this case. The Home official in charge no doubt knows far more.

It is the case though that people game the asylum system all the time.

Muslims claim to have converted to Christianity and so cannot be deported otherwise they face the death penalty for apostasy. As with the reading knife attacker who suspiciously seems to have used a call from his "former" religion.
Others claim to be gay when that is not the case
Women and girls can claim to be at risk of FGM

The extension of the asylum system from individuals who are genuinely being persecuted by their governments, to people living under different cultural rules than our own, means in practice that hundreds of millions could claim asylum here. The obstacle is getting here.

Personally I think we should be exported order not importing chaos and I recognise the tough job the Home Office faces in trying to separate the genuine claims from those trying it on.

Whilst it appears shameful you have to realise that this situation occurs through constant challenging of HO decisions where the plaintiff fails and appeals court decisions,
You can't use the emotive comments "is thriving at school and only speaks English" when your asylum appeal failed in 2013/2014 and you'd only been in the UK for a year....
No one's a winner in this situation but PP is absolutely correct in upholding & applying the courts direction.

Or maybe we should allow the HS to change and alter the direction of courts and the law (as applied by Judges) as they seem fit ….. Gina Miller may see that differently to you wobble

What a bizarre (and irrelevant) post.
