As much as he is quite public in "showing off" his Mum, it's far less likely you'll see his wife and kids on TV or in the papers, I think (understandably). I've known of him for 15 years plus and couldn't tell you whether he even has kids, now you mention it.

I don’t think you can be 100% sure about anything you hear these days however the person who said it isn’t known for hyperbole and it was only mentioned in passsing, ie not as some bit of salacious gossip.
