Not that I’m aware of. Majority of dual carriageways in the Black Country have the order, but I’ve not seen signs in Birmingham.

There's plenty around the airport that I've seen and out towards Marston Green and Chelmsley Wood areas.

I'd have to agree with others and say scumbags caused this by racing on the street.

I don't know how they can stop these types, take their licence and they'll drive regardless. It's like the wild West driving through Birmingham at times.

Thoughts to the families, not that will make their Christmas any less harrowing.

The underpass is quite easy to lose a sense of speed in as there is a long downwards slope either side. A junction with traffic lights limits the ability pick up too much excess speed at the mosque end of the underpass but it's downhill all the way for half a mile from Fiveways to the other underpass entrance and I've seen cars take that slope at insane speeds. The worst time (which I've got a recording of, maybe I should upload it) was on a sunny summer Saturday afternoon and a group of very expensive cars that had obviously been hired for a wedding were legging it down the hill, weaving in and out of other traffic. One of them was a convertible and had a guy sitting backwards videoing the whole thing, and I kid you not there were guys leaning all the way out the car windows of the other cars as they swerved and raced.

The Daily Mail map shows the accident site as opposite the mosque, which is nonsense as the underpass is nowhere near the mosque, the site of the accident is near the Fiveways end of the underpass 500m to the west. If a car was barrelling along from Fiveways and crossed the central reservation on entering the underpass where there's a bit of a bend, it could easily land on the opposite side, where the badly wrecked cars were lying.

One thing that's rather sobering is that despite the loss of life, the crash wasn't even the main item on the news earlier (it was something about Brexit). When a train came off the rails at Hatfield some years ago killing four people, not only did it dominate the headlines for weeks, but the entire rail network virtually shut down for months with trains limited to stupidly slow speeds until all potentially cracked rails could be replaced. I've never quite understood why when a few people die in a train crash it's like the world comes to an end, yet when similar numbers are killed in a crash as devastating as this morning's in Birmingham, we just move on after a day and it's though nothing changed, except for the bereaved. I can't see this bringing about an end to boy racing in Birmingham whether or not that was the cause of the crash.

I'm sure there will be 'memorial drive outs' similar to the wedding you mentioned earlier off the back of this.

There are few videos on YouTube showing scene of accident before arrival of emergency services.
I wonder what goes through the heads of people who film such a thing and then upload it onto YouTube. Ffs there were people’s loved ones lying lifeless in the middle of the road.

So basically some Asian males have been racing and there’s been a huge loss of life, the issue is that young males have always put bravado before driving skill, whatever the race

One person has been named so far - and, yes, he's an Asian male.

The taxi driver.

Based on the videos on YT and Twitter, it is reasonable to conclude provisionally at this stage that perhaps 5 of the 6 deaths may have been seatbelt-related.

The inquest will have the full answers, of course. Time will tell.

Is it possible that the accident was caused by excessive speed?

and

The large number of deaths by failure to wear seat belts?

Nothing to see here eh cv. The Asian male named who isn't the taxi driver is presumably the driver. On his Facebook page the profile picture is two black audi S3's, each car two up with people making hand signs out the windows including the bird, as you do. I don't know wether these are Pakistani or Indian youth, but thier general attitude is extremely confrontational and arrogant. The not wearing seat belts being one such example a total disregard for the law.

Being an unthoughtful bd I can only say that I feel enormously for the dead cab drivers widow and family. Hopefully she will be well looked after and cared for. I don't normally bother much with the go fund me page thing but this time both myself and my wife will be contributing.
There is a real shock locally at this.

A person ejected from the S3 was also named yesterday, young male of Pakistani heritage.

OK, I'd missed that. My bad.

<checks> I'm not seeing it on the Beeb, and the Brum Mail don't appear to name anybody else, either. Is the naming official, or "named locally"?

It was in the B'ham Mail's live feed yesterday afternoon along with a photo of him on a motorcross bike and was also a part of their story naming the taxi driver, for some reason the details have now been taken down.

They also took down a lot of photos initially posted through the course of yesterday and had to issue an explanation via FB. I think they need to train their newsdesk in self restraint.

I can see his point. Without question of doubt it's absolutely horrific and tragic for his family. Does that lessen the horror or tragedy for the widow of a victim without children for example? How about someone with three children - somewhere in between perhaps?

Six people are dead. None is any less tragic or horrific than any other.
Personally I think the death is made worse when you know they have left 6 children. Those six children will grow up without a father and probable bread winner. That may have a massive impact on their lives.
