Round here we have smyths toys. Not sure if they are national but the shop is light years away from toys r us. Looka bright and inviting and large range. Where toys r us is drab and looks stuck in 1988.
Smyths are good for toys and national. Comparable prices with online retailers and they are generally well stockedwjwren said:

Another is The Entertainer chain, an unusual one as the owner is religious and put belief over profits. So all stores shut on Sunday with a sign saying 'sorry but staff are sending time with their families' and also doesn't open Christmas Eve and so on.

First thing the British broadcasting communists blamed was brexit. How can anyone who doesn't eat lentils take these jokers seriously?pavarotti1980 said:
They always felt like going into a Tandy from the 80s and when you were in there prices were crazy for the likes of a usb cable or plug. You have to wonder if they jad priced more. aggressively they might still be alive. An who ever bought DJ lighs ffs

Think there will be a few more to come in 2018, if interest rates do go up then I think spending on the high street will fall even more.
Mothercare is now top of my predictions.
I am so tight I ordered a battery from ebay for £1.22 (arrived today) rather than £5.99 at MaplinS. I find the fact that people on the highstreet are desperate to get in debt to buy rubbish they don't need fascinating.

EAT are not a patch on Pret in terms of quality of food or service. For the price they charge they certainly don't look particularly "premium" as Pret does. Their coffee is awful too...
Maplin - not surprised. They've just priced themselves out of the market. I'd pay £8 for a £5 widget to have it now, but not £30.
ToysRUs - they need to look at what Smythes are doing right to know what they are doing wrong. Smythes are great on price and online too (I've used them several times without issue).
I can't see Mothercare going though, unless they are doing something very wrong. They've got the highstreet sewn up for baby "stuff" (prams, monitors etc) and the clothes are better quality than the supermarkets, albeit for a justified (to many) premium. Now Mamas and Papas have gone they have no competition. Kiddicare was competition for them near me until Morrisons sold them off and they went online-only, and useless with it.
