Why is everyone so upset? It's only Americans killing each other, not real people.

We have been asked if we could put together an insurance product for schools offering a benefit should a student die in such an attack.

Somebody has compiled a list of school shootings since 1990.

Looking at the last 5 years there are only 10 states where there have been been no deaths
Montana is on the list, surely they all have guns out there !!

AFAIK mass shootings are when 4 or more people have been killed.
What if someone goes a bit postal and shoots 20 people who survive, then that's not a mass shooting?

Is there an equivalence table, 4 injured = 1 killed for example?

Like totally normal, together with mum's shooter safely placed next to the bookcase.
Looks like a Crickett rifle: single shot 22LR. Good training rifle for kids. As you can see, you can get them in various colors. My cousin & husband bought one for their daughter when she was about 7 or 8.

Edit: $120. https://www.sportsmansguide.com/product/index/ksa-...

Nope, doesn't count. It only takes into account the deaths of the victims, & excludes the death of the perpetrator if they are stopped by deadly force. From my limited understanding; most of the mass shooting stats are attributed to gang violence, hence the world media only picking up on the "postal' incidents.

He looks harmless. Well, apart from the BFG.

I don't know anything about guns and I don't want to but that looks like a military spec machine gun of sort. Alarming if you really could just buy one of those?!

I hate guns and all weapons they only seem to have been created to kill human beings. Quite sad to think human beings have created weapons to kill human beings.

You have to remember that the majority of Americans don't own a gun; they're normal.

It is a minority of Americans that own a gun, and a tiny minority that own most of them. They are the loud shouty ones.

The normal ones do deserve our sympathy and compassion.

Puts you in an even more exclusive group than gun owning Americans. wink

Remember kids, three quarters of Americans do not own a gun.

It is the shouty minority that wants to keep shooting children.

Was quite surprised to learn of ‘Gun Owners of America’, an organisation that has 1.5M members and lobbies for maintaining the status quo, rails against anyone who disagrees and is in denial about mass shootings.

To cap it all it’s a fking Charity!

Only in America........

Just had a look at their website. Wow.

What a bunch of wierdos. The stuff about increasing gun control, you'd think people were trying to take away the oxygen they breath such is the level of concern.

Probably not really mass shooting related but it gives an insight into how some Americans think.

The wifes best friends sister lives in the USA (not sure where), she has an American friend coming over to London for a visit/holiday, she asked the sister of my wifes friend if she wouldn't mind asking her sister (wifes friend) where she can stay in London where there aren't any Muslims.

Perhaps ‘think’ is too strong a word?

Anyone been watching Active Shooter on Sky Atlantic?

Interesting series on past shootings. Well worth a watch for background info and the police side of things.
It won't appeal to a lot of contributors to this thread as it's too balanced and all the better for being so.

It should be compulsory viewing for everyone who thinks guns are the problem.
