Seven people were killed in a shooting at an illegal marijuana-growing operation in Southern California that local authorities say bears the hallmarks of organized crime.
Riverside County sheriff's deputies responded to a 911 call Monday morning about an assault with a deadly weapon and shots fired. When they arrived at the large property in the remote mountain area of Aguanga, they found six people dead of gunshot wounds. A seventh person later died at a local hospital.

This thread has been really quiet this year, have shooting stopped because of the pandemic or are they just not receiving media attention?
Anyway, it's 40 years since John Lennon was gunned down, that fateful night in New York. Since then almost 1.5 million Americans have been murdered using a firearm. Imagine they just banned the damned things.

A gunman opened fire inside an Illinois bowling alley, killing three people and injuring three others on Saturday night in what authorities believe was a random attack.
A “person of interest” was taken into custody after the shooting at Don Carter Lanes, Rockford Police chief Dan O’Shea said during a news conference.
He said two of those who were shot were teenagers.
Mr O’Shea did not immediately release additional information about the victims or the person who was taken into custody.
He described the scene as contained and said he did not think any officers fired their weapons while apprehending the person of interest.
Rockford is about 130km northwest of Chicago.
The Rockford Register Star reported that 2020 has been the city’s deadliest year for homicides, according to records that date back to 1965.
Thirty-five people have been killed in the city this year, breaking the previous record of 31 in 1996. - AP

Four people, including a child, were killed in a mass shooting at an office complex in Orange, California, on Wednesday, a police official said.
A fifth victim was wounded and transported to a local hospital in critical condition, Orange Police Department spokesperson Lt. Jennifer Amat said at a news conference.
Police responded to a call of shots fired around 5:30 p.m. and encountered gunshots when they arrived on the scene, Amat said. Officers engaged the suspect and "an officer-involved shooting did occur," she said.
The suspect was transported to the hospital after sustaining a gunshot wound, Amat said. It's unclear if the suspect's injury was self-inflicted, she said.
One firearm was recovered from the scene and the suspect is in critical condition, she said.

Cops in Allen, Texas say it looks like two brothers killed four members of their family and then themselves in a murder-suicide plot. The younger brother, a 19-year-old, left behind a suicide note on Instagram, in which he discussed his mental health troubles and criticized the end of the television series The Office, a police spokesman said.
Law enforcement did not name the people involved. Allen police spokesman Sgt. Jon Felty did tell Law&Crime that the family was originally from Bangladesh. Ages ranged from 19 to the mid-70s.
