Yes, but she came up with an utterly limp threat about him not doing it again when she could have easily got him kicked out. The fact that's he didn't appoint him wasn't really the issue.
Before Christmas, lots of noises were being made over sexual harassment in Politics, Roll on two weeks & Theresa May is making vague noises about a man child with a norks obsession gaining a position of influence with Government. That is the issue.Eddie Strohacker said:

So given how overblown the sexual harassment claims were (touching someone's knee? Really??) that kind of demonstrates to me how much of an issue Toby's tweets were. bodhi said:

I suppose there is a universe in which Bex Bailey's rape allegation could be called overblown, but I'm glad i don't live in it, whether that happened or not. Either way it's besides the point, which is the speaker talks of a culture of sexual harassment & shortly after, the PM is cool with Toby bewbs joining a quango. Not, as the buzzword goes, great optics.

Sadly, there are those (including one politically liberal gay friend of mine, to whom I am currently not speaking) who think it's all a massive witchhunt, the femin*zis are all old, fat and ugly, envious of those good-looking young things who've been lucky in attracting male attention...Not, as the buzzword goes, great optics.
...and I've seen exactly the same arguments made in the last few days for retaining grid girls in F1.
In both cases, I'm left wondering what message this is sending to young women who want to be successful in politics, motorsport, whatever.

Toby's tweets? Not even in the same ballpark. If we start throwing accusations like that around at anyone who sends a lewd or ungentlemanly tweet (which is all they were), this country is going to get awfully bland awfully fast.

I'm guessing that is the same universe where rape is termed as sexual harassment, and I'm glad I don;t live there either. Which was half the problem in my view, the spurious "he sent me a flirty text message" claims took some of the focus off the real horrors such as the case you mention.

You clearly had the Fallon resignation in mind & on that I concur. Nonetheless, TY's general attitude over many years in respect of women, disabled people, the poor and so on, rightfully disqualify him from high office imo & it has since transpired that several better qualified people lacking a fixation on tits in general & provocation in particular were overlooked during the recruitment process. If that involves excluding someone perpetually caught up in the purgatory of being an obnoxious teenager in a middle aged man's flabby carcass & sympathetic followers calling it bland, then I'm all for it.Toby's tweets? But y'know, laddish tweets and all that.

Having read the articles in question to get the full context of what he was saying, I completely disagree with your points on his attitude towards the poor etc. In fact, if you read the famous "eugenics" article, he is actually arguing the complete opposite to what has been represented.
But y'know, laddish tweets and all that.
Only you mentioned eugenics. But whatever. You're cool with him tweeting about lusting after the rack on Danny Boyle's 14 year old daughter & being in government simultaneously & so good for you mate. But y'know, laddish tweets and all that.
