In the first paragraph:
~
"His barrister’s job then is to try, by honest means"

Time to get into the slime bath that is the legal profession and wash in the polluted water that fills it.

As opposed so much fail in too many words?
Read back some of your puerile utterances then come back and criticise mine again
Why not pout down your crayons, kick back, have a long sip of Ribena & maybe a rusk or two & fill your boots with this?

Crayons duly 'pouted'
Have you actually read the link you posted?
If you have then it clearly demonstrates my point, Lawyers are paid to represent their client, even if he is found with a loaded gun over the twitching corpse of his victim.

Pout down your crayons, how very apt for you.
To be fair, I didn't think stitched would be pouting down his crayons. Eddie's got it wrong there.

I'm sure it's more of a frustrated rictus as he stares at the crayon tips while he painstakingly fills in his 'Kipper Kolouring book.

More of a grimace really. Certainly not a pout.

The primary job for criminal defence is top put forward their client's defence and test the prosecution evidence. Without doing so, how do we ensure the state gathers sufficient evidence to ensure safe and just convictions with a high standard of evidence gathering?

What are people expecting? A defendant to have to not only battle against the CPS but their own counsel?

What brought that on?
I have only voted once in my life and that was to leave Europe. My take on this was that lawyers were liars by profession, not sure why that rattled your cage.

Estate agents are liars by profession, Lawyers tend to get heavily sanctioned when they get found to be liars.

Sorry. didn't mean to imply lawyers were corrupt.
Just that their job was to lie.

I am honest in all my dealings.
If I needed legal representation I would expect them to do their utmost to uphold my 'possibly dishonest' case. Is that not what they are paid for?

They wouldn't be lying if the information you give them is the truth.

Sorry LL missed that.
My point was that a defence lawyer, or a prosecutor is not expected to judge their client, their job is to get the best result regardless of guilt or innocence.
