Good thread, or at least my bias agrees with everything Baratunde said so I think it's a good thread wink

I've no doubt the Russians are well organised in exploiting vulnerabilities in our democracy, however before we can judge it's effectiveness we need to see metrics for how far their information spread, through which routes it spread and then compare against similar metrics for misinformation in mainstream media.

My hunch is that the Russians will have had some success in reinforcing preexisting biases but minimal influence beyond that. People's biases and their ability to challenge their own biases will remain 'made in America'.

A good breakdown I think - thanks minimoog. TP - didn't know the backstory to the Reddit guy, interesting and reinforces my antiauthoritarianism somewhat...

Lots of Trump fans in Detroit

The stuff in the Baratunde twitter post is shocking, but it’s just too long and complicated for people who use Breitbart and Infowars as their main source of truth. That’s why it will have little or no effect on Trump’s core support.

Apart from blaming the people who didn’t try hard enough to report the latest school shooter, he is now saying the maybe the FBI would have done something if they weren’t so busy with the Russia probe.

What an utter, utter scumbag.
the perpetrator WAS reported to FBI, they didn't react and they should be held accountable

the other part of his tweet is classic Trump so just ignore it

One anxt teenager post. I don't think the FBI have enough people to cover all of those.

I'm surprised the FBI isn't breaking down the doors of PH towers at time.

Having said that, quite a few Tumpeteers seem to have disappeared off the scene.

What should the FBI have done? Trump specifically let people with mental problems hold guns. If they took his guns away it would be a breach of his goddam constitutional rights and they would have their asses sued off.

He just said they're spending too much time investigating collusion and not enough on the basics:-

Very sad that the FBI missed all of the many signals sent out by the Florida school shooter. This is not acceptable. They are spending too much time trying to prove Russian collusion with the Trump campaign - there is no collusion. Get back to the basics and make us all proud!

Are you claiming the ENTIRE staff of the FBI are working on the Trump case?

If so, I suggest you are gullible.

I think you misread rscott's post : the second paragraph was a direct quote from Trump.

Trump is an idiot.

And, of course, there are lots of other law enforcement agencies in Florida and the US that also failed to act on the tip offs that were being given to them about Cruz. In the US, law enforcement is primarily a state (and even county) based system. As far as local investigations are concerned, the FBI can only get involved if they are invited in by the local law enforcement agencies.

I am pretty sure Trump has not got a single clue as to how the law works in the country of which he is President.

I don’t see those literal words and don’t know how to read between the lines. Stop being mean to Trump.
