Although Florida School shooter Nikolas cruz was looking fetching in his MAGA hat, although thats a white supremacist, so doesn't rate on Trumps scale of vitriol
why would white supremacist kill white kids? “Personal accounts of students who attended high school with Cruz have pegged him as an anti-Semite. According to an individual who knew him*, he was actively hostile towards Jews, black people, and Muslims in particular throughout high school. In fact, multiple of the violent incidents he was expelled for were attacks against Jews.”

Trumps refused to sign any sanctions...

Are Fox News employees allowed an opinion or do they have to toe the party line?
There are a couple who appear to have independent minds and are not afraid to make the others on Fox 'news' look rather foolish. Shepard Smith debunked the 'Uranium One' story so heavily flogged by Hannity etc...From what I can tell having a quick look noticed no one have bothered to bring up the news that Trump is in favour of improvements in gun control.

45TH PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES, DONALD TRUMP HATE THREAD. Because that's all it is.
He has a far better chance of getting gun more controls through than Obama ever did. His supporters are far more likely to listen to him. They may not be the very strong reforms but any improvement is better than none surely and be supported.
Although I wouldn't be surprised if Democrats vote against it saying some crap like "It's not good enough so we are not going to vote for it"

He has a fantastic opportunity to implement some genuinely meaningful gun control changes. I, for one, will be delighted if this is something that happens. This thread should be renamed

Up to now, his one act on this matter was to make it easier for mentally ill people to obtain a firearm.
Does this President really have much of an opportunity to implement meaningful gun control measures? What direct measures could he put in place? It’s a long time since I properly studied US p9litics but I doubt the President could directly do much at all.
And much as I suspect he might personally have a genuine interest in mental illness, especially in young men I have my suspicions that Mr Trump the politician has much time for (what might be perceived from a UK perspective as) significant gun control anyway. The gun lobby is almost unbelievably powerful over there, gun ownership is very large and those owners/voters don’t display much interest in significant gun control. Far from it.
The US will just carry on sucking up their gun deaths.

Obama tried and was repeatedly thwarted by Congress. Trump has an opportunity simply not available to 44. I am willing to give him a chance with this one. If he is still in office, of course. Things are looking a little awkward with the Mueller inquiry... a. Trump will have already forgotten about anything he has said about gun control. He’s moved back onto Russia now. That is all consuming for him. This thread should be renamed

b. It is purely a knee jerk reaction. If he had any intention of going against the NRA (believe me he doesn’t) he would already have set the wheels in motion. There have been enough mass shootings including the worst in American history since he took office and he is yet to do anything. Rolling back Obama’s regulation re mental health checks tells all.
c. This is not the Trump hate thread. I generally find that people who care about the USA (maybe they have family there or used to live there, like me), human rights and the future are capable of having a reasoned discussion here. People who come to troll, talk about ‘liberal lefty tears’ and the suchlike before disappearing for months tell me everything I need to know.
d. I am not a lefty. Whatever that may be. I also voted remain.
e. Edited to add eleven tweets about the ‘nothing burger’ Russian meddling since the Parkland tragedy.

And this is everything what's wrong with politics today. It's not about going against things, people or groups is about working with them to the best of your ability even if you don't agree with them or get on. It's why we have Trump in the first place years and years of politicians going against people and not listening to them.
Trump is in a good position to negotiate with NRA. He's good for them and just like if you have a good employee you are far more likely to listen to them and give them perks and concessions you wouldn't normally give to others.
Yes to be fair only time will tell if he asks for them. It will all be a calculation for Trump regarding his support, pissing people off vs making people happy. If he thinks even if he please some they will still never vote for him I don't think he will do it. He's a politician now after all.

Agreed. However with the NRA it’s all about the money. They are hugely powerful. Any attempt to curb that will not end well.
