He probably was - but I am sure there are many more like him in the crossover world of entertaining and satire who could come unstuck if some agency decides to do an exposé.

Gates Lawyer has pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI, failed to turn over emails, covering up over Ukraine etc
https://edition.cnn.com/2018/02/20/politics/robert...

Seems it's a small world, as Alex van der Zwaan wife is the daughter of Russian oligarch German Khan connected to a Russian oil company and the Alfa Group, that company that a server in Trump tower was said to be connected to, but never explained.
Lets go back to this. So there's no attorney privilege? He withheld evidence to the investigation.
Now that's interesting with all the other lawyers involved, some who made personal payments...

So Twitter finally purged a bunch of Russian bot accounts last night and the MAGA lot are losing their st, crying and wailing about 'silencing the conservative movement' and 'breaching our 1st Amendment rights', amongst much else, as they see their follower numbers drop..

It's genuinely difficult to grasp how simultaneously cretinous and traitorous these people are.

Another nail in the coffin of legacy politics, Zuckerberg has teamed up with Raj Chetty:
https://www.politico.com/story/2018/02/19/facebook...

The political establishment apparently haven't considered the implications of using facebook as a political football in their latest incarnation of reds under the bed. An industry that has based itself on lies and false promises for so long that it thinks a public trust rating of <20% is acceptable has accused Mark Zuckerberk of facilitating Russian fake news, the same Zuckerberg who has his hands on possibly the largest store of social data in the world and has the money, inclination and experience to apply the best brains possible to deciphering that data.

No way that's going to end badly for democrats and republicans alike wink

He's in the process of touring all 50 states but has said he won't run for president. Whether he will or not remains to be seen but one thing I am sure of is that the team he's gathering around him are heavyweight academics, the sort of people whose reputation and career relies on being trustworthy, the very element which modern democratic structures are incapable of achieving.

No - It's very much the same. Rival politicians often have GREAT respect for each other and are often the best of mates - outside the "ring" of the debating chamber.

So there are lots of parallels.

I stand by my assertion.

You can disagree if you like. You are allowed to.
Really?

You think that Donald Trump, who said:

"Mitt Romney, who totally blew an election that should have been won nad whose tax returns make him look like a fool, is now playing tough guy"

&

"Mitt Romney, who was one of the dumbest and worst candidates in the history of Republican politics, is now pushing me on tax returns. Dope!"

and Mitt Romney, who said:

"If Trump had said 4 years ago the things he says today about the KKK, Muslims, Mexicans, disabled, I would NOT have accepted his endorsement"

Are actually really best friends?

You're entitled to stand by your assertion. It lets everyone else see how silly you can be.
No discipline, no integrity, no morals - there's nothing there to respect.

It's not public service, it's self service and tending to the needs and agendas of the financials sponsors and those who benefit. The gun situation is a classic example.

Yes, I doubt very much that Washington people have much respect for Trump. He has personally insulted many rival politicians, many on the 'same side' in a way I don't think has really been seen before. He comes across to me as being a bit like a school bully. Not the brightest bulb in the chandelier, and overcompensates by using aggression, personal abuse and his liking of juvenile nicknames, 'liddle', 'low energy' etc. The amazing thing is, it worked, which is rather troubling, but the farcical circus of an administration everyone is now having to deal with is the unpleasant result.
