No you've got that wrong. Trump has denied a number of foreign expenses, some of which has rebuilding expenses, are you thinking of the recent refusal towards SDF? .
Nope - he stopped the Syrian stabilization funding, which wasn't just building, but also paid the wages of essential workers in the areas that the Assad regime had ceased
So you are thinking of the money Trump refused to spend on SDF areas that was recently in the news, thank you for confirming this.

What I referring to is the TOW program which Trump cancelled ages ago.

Reuters article from last year - https://www.reuters.com/article/us-mideast-crisis-...

If you missed it then I don't blame you because Reuters managed to write an entire article with only briefest mention of ending train and equip, which is the actual piece of news it was purporting to tell us about. Here is a list of the people American taxpayers have been buying weapons for: https://syriainbrief.wordpress.com/2018/01/02/the-...

For a free press western media does have an incredible ability to never mention any of the names on that list.

Ah cool - two different things then, the Syrian stabilization funding was a result of the screw up after the Iraq wars and the void it created afterwards. The Tow pullout was last year after that little private chat with Putin...

If you're completely pulling out and leaving it all as a gift to Putin then I guess that works, leave the void which someone will fill, make the locals grateful as you pay them etc.

Catching up the thread so sorry it's from a few a days ago. (I used to think the euro thread moved fast but hey ho)

The bolded bit is where I question you. I think Trump has been highly consistent on a number of issues, one of which is that American tax payers should not be paying for the world police.
And yet he's attacked Syria twice and he's threatened KJU with "Fire & Furry" and only yesterday he said "Iran are going to have problems, BIGLY problems" if they try to restart their nuclear reactor. OTOH he does seem reluctant to impose sanctions on Russia.

The reason for the inconsistency (I think) is apparent and based on his narcissism. he craves adulation from his Breitbart base and hates doing anything to upset them. (let's face it, who else is going to buy MAGA hats and chant his name in stadiums?) But the grown-ups in the White House are explaining to him the long term consequences to the US if he abrogates their position as "Leader of the Free World". So he HAS to do something, even though it costs him support at home. It's that tension which causes the inconsistencies.

Yes he is surrounded by bluster and lies but look at the world we are in, have we really been reduced to the point where we distrust a leader because their competence in demagoguery is not sufficient to leave the wool comfortably across our eyes?
I think you're suggesting that "all Leaders lie, he's just not very good at it". IMO it's a lot worse than that. Not only does he lie, he lies constantly and he lies about the most pathetic, childish, irrelevant things. It's one thing for the President to lie, but when he lies about the size of the crowd at his inauguration, there is clearly an underlying mental/psychological issue which shouldnt be present in the President of the United States. More wooryingly, this mental/psychological issue is clearly present when he's tweeting stuff about Syria, North Korea, Iran, and the FBI.

Sic transit gloria mundi. However let's not willingly sit by whilst this happens, or accept it as a fait accompli, or even say that the alternatives are "just as bad".

The man's a fking moron. He's managed to get where he is as a result of a deep cancer in US society. We can either stand back and let America die a slow and tortuous death or we can try to help it heal itself by pointing out how stupid Trump is.

Still nothing from trump about James Shaw, Jr, the hero who disarmed the Waffle House shooter.
Is that because it didn't need a good man with a gun to stop him?

Even the NRA managed to say something, although said it would have been better if Shaw had been armed...

.. then when the police did arrive they could have shot him!

Every great power in history has had its day. The US will be next with Trump in the driving seat continually looking in his rear view mirror instead of ahead.

Just caught a glimpse of a tweet in passing but apparently Trump went on Fox & Friends this morning and admitted that Cohen had been representing him in the matter of Stormy Daniels, or some such. This would be in direct contradiction of his vehement denials thus far that he knew anything about a payoff or NDA.

Daniel's lawyer is understandably beside himself with glee.

Can anyone confirm?

Guardian reporting that too:

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2018/apr/26/do...

Donald Trump admitted on Thursday that lawyer Michael Cohen represented him in the “crazy Stormy Daniels deal” – despite having previously denied knowing about a $130,000 hush payment paid by his lawyer to the adult film star, who claims to have had sex with him.

“As a percentage of my overall legal work, [he did] a tiny, tiny little fraction,” the US president said of Cohen. “But Michael represents me like with this crazy Stormy Daniels deal.”

Daniels sued last month to release herself from a non-disclosure agreement that she signed in 2016, arguing that it was void because Trump never signed it.

In April, Trump was asked by reporters on Air Force One if he knew about the payment Cohen says he made. He replied: “No.” When asked why Cohen made the payment, Trump said: “You’ll have to ask Michael Cohen. Michael is my attorney. You’ll have to ask Michael.”

This is from FoxNews’ website (reporting on that interview):

“Michael would represent me on some things ... like with this crazy Stormy Daniels deal he represented me, and you know, from what I see, he did absolutely nothing wrong,” Trump said. “There were no campaign funds going into this.”

At issue is a $130,000 payment Cohen made to the adult film star Daniels, whose legal name is Stephanie Clifford. The payment was made in the weeks leading up to the 2016 presidential election in exchange for her silence about an alleged sexual encounter with Trump in 2006. Daniels initially denied any involvement with Trump.

Trump said earlier this month that he did not know about the payment from Cohen, which is now being investigated as part of the probe led by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Southern District of New York.

Have a look at the clip from Morning Joe on MSNBC. They watch the Fox & Friends clip with Michael Avanetti. The effort they all make not to laugh out loud is admirable and obvious.

Well in that case there should be few if any issues of lawyer-client privilege, should there?

Top pisshead. Latest is he crashed a govt car when he'd been drinking. Perhaps in trumps laddish world - it was just locker room banter - he's good fun to go drinking with?

Trump next choice is the chemist assistant who sold him some aspirin last week... probably biggrin

Crikey, I just heard some excerpts from the Fox interview from this morning. Trump sounds borderline hysterical.
