Latest weapon is to restrict Chinese investment in US start ups and companies in sectors from aerospace to robotics.

China wants to lead the world in 10 sectors by 2025 including aerospace, robotics, AI, medical devices and trains. This measure is an attempt to counter that goal.
Well thats one way of putting the spin on the fact that chinese investment in the US has fallen 92%.
China are targetting trump supporting states in their tarrifs also.

Still trade wars are easy to win says trump

We cannot allow all of these people to invade our Country. When somebody comes in, we must immediately, with no Judges or Court Cases, bring them back from where they came. Our system is a mockery to good immigration policy and Law and Order. Most children come without parents...

....Our Immigration policy, laughed at all over the world, is very unfair to all of those people who have gone through the system legally and are waiting on line for years! Immigration must be based on merit - we need people who will help to Make America Great Again!

Sir, your ignorance of the Constitution is stunning. Zadvydas v. David, 533 US 678 (2001):"the Due Process Clause applies to all persons within the United States, including aliens, whether their presence here is lawful or unlawful." Or maybe you "just don't care" what the law is?

So Trump called for a study into the overall cost of refugees.

Study showed a net gain of $63bn over 10 years.

So it gets rejected.. because..?

Even for you thats a huge desperate stretch.

Meddling in the elections would be say providing huge amounts of money through backchannels for election funds, perhaps as payment for promised sanctions relief.
Or perhaps it would be altering voter databases so opposition voters would be turned away from voting when they suddenly find out they aren't registered.
Or maybe it would be hacking the opponents emails and providing that information to you.
Or a huge targeted social media attack, that could also be called meddling.

Targeting tariffs in response to a trade war "they are easy to win", isn't election meddling. That's called tit for tat and is something that most economists warned trump about.

Targeting sanctions by "political products" (Trump voting areas) is a very aggressive and dangerous game by the Eu.

We now have Trump causing st storms to hide his massive failures and now we have the Eu picking a big fight for the same reason, interesting times.

I thought it was when a foreign power interferes with democracy by trying to influence the outcome? A bit like Canada, China and the EU targeting swing states with tariffs.

But what about the RUSSIANS?!!!

when Russia does it it's called meddling, when other countries do that in support to the opposite party then it's completely OK, hypocrisy continues...

There could be, how often do you pick fights with a big chap who is a little "unpredictable" ? The Eu has a massively larger stake to lose than the USA in this game and Trump knows it.

Does the current tit-for-tat ripping up of trade agreements and tariffs have any beneficial opportunity for a post-Brexit Britain...?

The Eu has chosen to respond with politically targeted sanctions, that is deciding to react in an aggressive way. It takes two to fight, the Eu has decided to react in this way.

I have not commented on what the Eu should do.

There is no question that the tariff structure is a massive mess with large anomalies on BOTH sides.

I would disagree that the US ones are targeted at particular "groups of voters/swing areas" in any of the Eu countries.
Although these are being highlighted by the press, I do understand the Eu actions are wider than just the "political" ones.
