So the NRA is the major stumbling block to US gun control legislation?
I'd say the stumbling block is there is only marginal public support for tighter gun laws in the US. About half (Pew survey) want tighter gun laws, half want no change or looser laws. Of the half that want tighter laws, that covers everything from wanting a total ban to the trivial, such as wanting a waiting period before purchase.

Even one of the surviving school students, right after the school shooting, was interviewed and she said, "criminals will always be able to get guns".

The NRA is successful because it reflects the beliefs of a lot of Americans, even if they aren't members.

If teachers being armed is such a good idea, how come they don’t seem to bring their own weapons to work already?
Schools are generally gun free zones. It would be illegal for a teacher to bring a firearm onto campus. Law enforcement are permitted to bring firearms into a gun free zone. Mass killers aren't permitted to, but they do it anyway.
Not quite. If you are licenced CCW holder (just using CCW exemption that some states have is not enough has to be licenced) then you can carry in a school zone.

What it has relevant is that the students were basically being taught that there was no punishment for bad behaviour as the police and school were protecting them from punishment. In turn skewing their world perspective and helping with their ideology that they could do anything they wanted.
They were spending them to special classes to try and help those with behavioural issues . Seems a reasonable approach.

I see you've ignored the quote from the sheriff where he confirms they still have the ability to arrest if they feel it necessary?
Could you at least have the common decency of reading the links I posted that were asked for before commenting?
You mean the links which I read and copied a quote from? The quote which makes it clear the sheriff's did still have the right to arrest?

If by 'school zone', you mean on a school campus, that is absolutely NOT the case in Florida.

Saw a pretty good post about all this on Facebook the other day. Fortunately, it's not a long, rambling piece. Very concise, actually.

Someone on Facebook said:
Scenario: A kid at school hits another kid with a stick. What should the school's administration do?

A) Take the stick away from the kid.

B) Give everyone sticks.

C) Decide that the adults should have sticks.
I know this boils a highly complex and emotive topic down to something very simplistic, but sometimes we have to do that, in order to see the wood for the trees.

It is too simplistic:
The school is next to a forest and there is an unlimited supply of sticks outside.

No I mean a gun free school zone. The poster I was replying too said "gun free zone".

Most schools (as you probably know this is for the benefit of others) have a 1000 ft exclusion zone around them where you can not carry a loaded firearm. The majority of states allow CCW holders to carry firearms in this zone. This is because it would be almost impossible to navigate around the gun free zones.

Most states prohibit CCW in schools, bars, courts, police stations and ports.

That said there are a few states that allow CCW in schools.

Collectivising the forest sounds a bit commie to me. wink

Yes and once again the problem is there is a difference between reality and fantasy and in the real world you will never every get americans to give up or stop using guns.

So you need to come up with solutions which are a compromise.

I wonder if such a solution would work for london’s Knife crime - arm everyone with knives and the problem will go away.

We need good guys - with knives....

Might work too in the fight against these bomb terrorists as well, if everyone wore explosive vests.

A church in northeast Pennsylvania is telling couples to bring their semi-automatic rifles to a blessing ceremony next week.

The event is meant to give couples an opportunity "to show their willingness to defend their families, communities and nation," The Times-Tribune in Scranton reported.

It will take place at the World Peace and Unification Sanctuary in Newfoundland, Pa., on Wednesday.

Is it not quite are for the shooter to survive the shooting in these circumstances?

Not that there was much point in surviving - a death sentence is pretty much guaranteed.
I don't know about that.

When the president has been telling the world that you are a ''sicko'' it rather suggests a defence of insanity or diminished responsibility may be offered. I don't think they still execute their mentally ill, do they?

Youre right. Lets not discuss possible real world actual solutions and continue with the fantasy ideas that will never hapen meaning kids will keep being killed.
