As mentioned nothing will change, sandy hook was the biggest acid test so far and until something much more grusome comes along it won’t get tested again. It’s an accepted part of American life.

Another spoiled inadequate moron who got upset and because of our ludicrous gun laws was able to arm himself with a weapon of mass destruction and slaughter innocents. It’s disgusting and will change absolutely nothing while the gun lobby own the GOP.

At least 17 dead now.

I would hate to be bringing my children up in the states, knowing one day some psychopath with easy access to high powered rifles could walk into a school and spray bullets everywhere.

160 school shootings a year is a disgusting figure, wtf is wrong with people over there allowing that to carry on.

If you can, please watch the series currently being aired on Sky/Now TV called "Active Shooter: America Under Fire".

It examines recent mass shootings but doesn't take the easy way out when it comes to apportioning blame.

Sometimes the obvious answer isn't the best one.

Nobody needs an AR-15.

If eliminating one type of gun was the answer, I'd be the first to support it.

I remember being in Oz when the government banned SLR's and assault rifles. Whilst there was a general uproar from bogans who wanted to machine gun wild goats who were going to steal their women, everybody got over it.

I'm guessing that whilst there is money to be made by weapons manufacturers and law enforcement agencies nothing will change. Nobody will be terk'n yer gerns.

If this was a GOP issue only then this would have been put to bed a long time ago. The reality is it isn’t and therefore it continues. It has all sorts of dimensions including north v south, central v coasts, men v women etc. Pinning this on the GOP is convenient but slack.

The vast majority of Democratic lawmakers are in favor of greater gun control. Sen Murphy is on the floor right now calling for action. I cannot name a republican lawmaker who will stand against the NRA.

The American public are also overwhelmingly in favor of more gun control. NRA donations to the GOP prevents anything happening. That may change after 2018, it may not.

Right now I can go out tomorrow and buy 10, 20 guns with no more than the most cursory background check. If I go to a gun show there will be no check at all. I can carry concealed or open and have a license for life. It’s crazy.

Gun control is not the only answer, as I said.

You got it wrong before so why not look beyond the obvious?

This just about sums up reality. After Vegas they were going to ban bump stocks. Since when nothing. Crocodile tears, platitudes and inaction. It’s pathetic.

291 school shootings since 2013 according to the BBC. More than one every week.

Presumably, they'll wait to do something until it gets to one every day........

It would be a start but, frankly, I don’t much care. As a society they don’t seem to care beyond ‘hoping and praying’; why should I?

Awful tragic etc

Have seen a powerful video of Sandy Hook Senator: 'This happens nowhere else'

There really is an obvious link between guns and mass shootings. Those who cannot see it are either blind or American.

Where does the NRA get this kind of money from?
