I'm aware, but I feel safe to say if there were women it would be a VERY different state of affairs.

This is not a problem. Cheerleaders are on the feminist list of occupations/hobbies etc to be discouraged as it is just yet another way men can objectify women.

Any male cheerleaders are acceptable however as it is just a bit of fun, just like touching guys up in bars is, lifting a kilt, butler in the buff and the rest.

I have no doubt they have not, because of course it’s the patriarchy that’s forced them into this position and they don’t realise they are being objectified.

What won’t be happening is that they are exercising their own free will to undertake a role that requires commitment, skill and fitness, plus gives them pleasure by mixing with the rest of the team and making friends etc. and making their own decisions in life. That definitly isn’t happening.

Possibly Brexit is to blame as well, because that too is down to the patriarchy but on this occasion being influenced by climate change.
