Everything that happens in life is a coincidence. There was as much chance of her passing by at the time as it was you, me, Mrs Miggins of the local pie shop, the Russian Ambassador to Britain (awkward) or anyone else. Sometimes someone who has the experience to help happens to do so.

Or sometimes even a sleb - https://www.ranker.com/list/celebrities-who-have-s...

Russki says: "It couldn't have been our Novichok, as that would have killed dozens!"

Other Russki previously said: "We don't have any Novichok"

Another Russki previously stated: "Russia destroyed 100 percent of its chemical-weapons stockpiles"

Hmmm...

(Wherever did this thread's Putin apologists go?)

What a waste of a journey, what was he expecting the ambassador to do - breakdown with his head in his hands apologising for what they did...?

FFS.

More like a home plot than Ruskies - lack of people/tourism etc going there, how can we remedy it? scratchchin
Bingo!

I'm so taken in, I've just instructed and put my house in the beautiful Cotswolds up for sale, I'll even take a low offer, anything!
All so I can uproot and move to the best place to live in the UK, the overall winner being... spin

Salisbury!

No offence to Salisbury, I spend loads of time there and in around much of Wiltshire, for one it's not that far to travel for me anyway, a lovely area, but this story - like many things today, you couldn't make it up.

Still take Salisbury though, over the London winner: Tower Hamlets! biggrin

It's a great little city. Winchester has won this in the past, another nice place but I have always preferred Salisbury.

The hospital is also a credit to the area, has to be raised given the thread title.

In all seriousness though if one looks across what we could call the near corner of the south west, where is better to live than Salisbury?

Have to say that yes it is a great place. Unlike some other nice places, it’s also good value for money. There are nicer places, if you have the means. Winchester, mentioned above, is nicer, but costs way more to buy into.

I don’t get why people stayed away from Salisbury this summer after the events. Unless you were a druggie bin diver, it was probably one of the most secure city’s in the U.K.

What's the near corner? Exeter too far? Cheltenham? Bournemouth? Bath?

I don't mind Salisbury, but it's a bit weak as a tourist attraction and a bit isolated an unless you're a fan of visiting Swindon or Southampton.

Don’t be stupid. It has a world famous cathedral that is 123m high that people come from literally all over to visit, and the world heritage site of stone henge just a few miles away, when accessible if the snow isn’t too deep, Comrade.

LOL.

I live an hour west of Salisbury. Exeter is OK but no better, I would call it roughly a draw but it's a very long way from London and the south east which is important to many people. Salisbury to London is just about commutable which makes the reasonable cost of living there even more surprising. Bournemouth is like a suburb of London that has been plonked down on the coast, awful traffic and mostly an awful place except for those who are rich enough to live in those circles/lifestyle, like many parts of London it has that odd parallel lives thing going on in abundance. Bath is just too expensive and has probably the worst traffic problems in the UK. Cheltenham pretentious but less attractive as a destination than Bath. If one was rich you would either live in one of the coastal posh parts of Poole (Lilliput, Canford Cliffs, Sandbanks etc.), royal crescent or similar in Bath. Nearly all of us however are not rich or we just don't want to live in big towns or cities.

True.

I used to regularly have school assemblies in the cathedral, never knew the height of it until our comrades showed me the light. Finally on House of Games this week they asked how tall Salisbury Cathedral was... in feet.
