Same here. He comes across as a bit of a plank at times but overall I think he’s far more positive than negative.
Oh, to damn with faint praise!! wink

That doesn’t sound like greatness to me; most people I know are ‘far more positive than negative’.

I don’t think I ever implied that he was “Great” as a person in general. I think he could be called a great runner. As a person i think he’s probably ok.

Be careful you two. When I raised this issue on page 14 of this thread and suggested some people might not like it, I was told I was being "snide".

Sir Mo "fans" might enjoy seeing him in the Great North Run on BBC1 at the moment. He's easy to pick out with his "name" shown clearly on his vest. laugh
Any need for this snide post?
Clearly some PHers have an issue with his shirt today.

I was channel hopping this morning when I saw the "Sir Mo" thing as he was being interviewed by Gabby Logan.

He didn't actually run today did he?

...not a fan then?

I've never found him particularly likeable, but this latest spat over the "robbery" at his hotel has been an eyeopener to say the least. When you dig down into the detail (or at least the detail as it has been presented in some segments of the print media) it turns out that about 15 people had access to his room as part of his "entourage", and he wanted a coach/doctor/somesuch who is wanted for doping offences to have access to the hotel too, which Haile Gebrselassie quite rightly wanted nothing to do with on his premises. So it sounds like "Sir Mo" might well have invented and/or embellished the "robbery" in a fit of pique to get back at someone who he perceived had "wronged" him.

Whatever the truth of it, I find him even less likeable now than ever I did, and a lot of it stems from the way he talks to/about others in interviews, etc, not so much the content as the tone he uses. Oh, and the "Mobot" of course. There is something cringeworthy about that, like Peter Crouch's robot dance. Yet Usain Bolt looks effortlessly cool when he pops his "trademark" celebration.

I don't hate him, nor really actively dislike him, as that would be far too much effort, but I doubt I'll ever warm to him...
