Assuming it was Richmond in Surrey, there isn't a hill big enough to take several mins to run up. Equally the terrain either side of the only hill worth exercising up is easily navigable in trainers.

Could the couple have taken up less space? Maybe. Could he have run round them rather than being a gobste...?

Farah has won numerous Gold medals for Great Britain, made Britain stand out on the long distance running 'circuit', become a role model for thousands of young ethnic minority kids growing up in Britain who might not have had role models before etc etc! He's done a lot that comes close if you live your life outside of Pistonheads and the NP&E bubble.

To be fair, lots of folks have won gold medals for GB over the years.

Hasn’t made much of a difference to anyone else though, in truth.

I was a big doubter ref the 2012 Olympics, but I'm not sure it's all that glum.

It's certainly very far from the most costly Olympics ever staged, and I do think it helped get people active and helped with a degree of regeneration in the local area.

The problem is you cannot change a national psyche with one event - we have become a nation who has rather too many lazy, fat feckless feckers and staging a month or two of athletics (or a bit of the TdF etc) isn't the only thing needed to change that. Expecting it to, if you were, belies your user name . Stratford will be a st hole for quite some time to come too, but they are trying.
