I have TEH SADS. I thought that Frankie had embraced reason, but now I see that he is back propagating nonsense, believing biased blah because it is on the net and suits his world view, and defending the indefensible. Oh well.

Slight anecdote but there was a poster used to be on here, I forget his name but he didn't like Islam and Muslims much. I always remember one post where he seemed to genuinely have lost the plot and started calling me and some other posters Islamist traitors and all kinds of daft st in spite of me being a white bloke with no interest in any religion.

Point being it always seemed ironic that anyone could seem so full of hatred whilst criticising anyone else's belief system when they'd never done him any harm.

Personally i consider myself a liberal conservative.

Simply because its in reference to a point of law I was trying to clarify.

As ever people have this notion I am still arguing Tr's case by referencing him but its simply because it was as part of his conviction.

I was simply trying to understand if there had been an error in his being sentenced so fast given that it appeared from the Sentencing Guidelines that there may have been an error however it has been shown to me that there was not and as such matter was closed.

The only reason this all re ignited is I came back on thread to issue a correction to false information i had posted

If it’s true I can’t say this makes me happy, the prison system has a duty of care regardless of the prisoner, their views or their crimes.

That's not liberalism though - liberalism is a clearly defined political stance. Using the wrong name because some Americans use it as a substitute for intelligent argument is not a good start - at the least, it shows you don't know enough about "the others'" political opinion to offer an intelligent rebuttal of it.

Islam is not a race, but due to it being used as a coded phrase by racists, making arguments based on it have become racist, and this is a well understood phenomenon.

Quite, we have our own long tradition of political insults, I.e. Tory, Whig, Red, Wet. Not sure why people have decided to copy paste stuff from a different culture. The politics in the US are very different to the UK - Obama would be a wet Tory - and we have a long tradition of socialist and radical politics that never existed in the US. Nor do we have the cultural wars over abortion and guns.

Using US based terminology is laziness and shows a lack of understanding of UK politics & history.
