Arrested for breach of peace then banged up for contempt of court ?? then on top of that the Honorable QC put a gagging order on it is my understanding of things.

How 1984.
Gagging order is in place until the cases TR was reporting on are completely concluded. Then they can report on both those and TR's cases.

It's interesting to see how many post on threads about alleged rape (eg the rugby players) saying the accused should have the right to anonymity until convicted, yet we never hear the same arguments about grooming gang suspects..

I wonder why.

Breach of the peace my fking arse.
Has it been confirmed what he was arrested and improsoned for? Wasn’t he the one that said it was breach of the peace?
Nope, it was the arresting officer who said it. He was questioning it.

Not that I doubt you, but a) link, and b) irrelevant if he was charged with, and found guilty of, contempt of court.

In the officer's own words, breach of the peace.

I'm not a Police Officer but I'm going to take a guess that you can be arrested for one thing but charged with another.

Seems simple enough.

Having watched for a bit longer..............Yes he does say "suspicion" - you are correct.....still struggling to see what peace he was disturbing though...........not sure it shows the British justice system in a good light however no doubt the legal eagles will make a few bob from it...let's just hope it isn't at the expense of taxpayers.

So TR is charged and goes to jail for “reporting” in a way that threatens justice and a far trial.

He is still on a suspended sentence from that illiegal action when he turns up outside a court case - where there is already a reporting ban until the case is finished - and is surprised when he gets arrested.

It is reasonably obvious that he may well overstep the mark here and his detainment is no surprise whatsoever.

He clearly has his fans here though.

Do they still think he “isn’t racist”?

Perhaps he is “only” xenophobic! wink

Ah the person that doesn't have the courage of their own convictions appears.

You were doing quite well initially but then, as usual, you have to insert the nasty barb ...it is hard to take anyone seriously that won't say "in real life" that what they continually shout from the rooftops in an anonymous forum but I'll play a while anyway.

Who are these fans specifically? As a non fan myself I can't answer your questions.

Isn’t it a bit academic given what he was convicted for?

Now that I have heard the word "suspicion" yes I would tend to agree. Although I still don't understand why he wasn't arrested on suspicion of breaching the reporting Order or the terms of his suspended sentence. It has been known for prosecutions to fail simply on the basis of a "technicality". So I assume the judge / magistrate would not have wrongly convicted and imprisoned him just to be spiteful to, what is after all, not a very nice person.

He wasn't convicted of any new charges yesterday though - it was for breaching the conditions of his suspended sentence.

You seem unable to see what poor TR has done wrong.

You sound like a TR apologist/fan.

Only a TR fan would be unable to see it.

There are a fair few on this thread.

Apologies for being a bit dense and / or pedantic..........not being a follower of his I don't really know too much about him or his previous.

The bit I am struggling with is - why was he arrested for "suspicion of Breaching the peace"? which in my humble opinion he wasn't...............why not arrest him for "suspicion of breaching the conditions of his suspended sentence"?

I'm going to guess that the Police at the scene wouldn't know about those conditions, but they would believe he was breaching the peace.

It doesn’t matter why he was arrested. Being arrested doesn’t necessarily mean you’ve committed a crime. Being convicted of a crime, which he was, does.
