Today's other hearings at The Old Bailey...

Manish Shah - Accused of sexually abusing 20 women. The youngest being 15

Salih Khater - Accused of attempted murder. He allegedly deliberately drove his car at cyclists and pedestrians outside the Houses of Parliament.

Mohammad Siddiq - Accused of putting up Facebook posts supporting terrorism.

Ahmed Aweys and two others - Accused of terror offences including the dissemination of terrorist publications

Mohammed Ahad - Accused of the dissemination of terrorist publications

Ironic.
How?

Genuine question as I haven't heard of them, but they're being prosecuted, and you seem able to post that.

Could a white person be convicted of racism against a white muslim?
Yes.

It’d depend on the motivation / demonstration of hostility as to whether it would be racially or religiously aggravated.
That's a no then.
Why is it a no?

Were they the only cases listed or are you selecting facts based on your biases?

It does make TR and his supporter look even more stupid.
Is there irony in that?

Strangely enough, they weren't the only cases...
https://old-bailey.com/2018/09/26/whats-on-at-the-...

Manish Shah was a doctor who is alleged to have sexually assaulted patients - something not unique to doctors of any ethnic background.

He also missed the two charged with terror offences who have very western sounding names.

Oh and the 4 charged with murdering a Romanian national. The only one named also has a western name.

Weird that..

Muslims make up 5% of the population but seem to be represented disproportionately regarding sex offences and terrorism offences. Almost 40% of today's cases involved muslims.

We'll check back in tomorrow to see what the stats are like on a Friday at the Old Bailey..

Quick question for you. How do you know the religion of all those on trial today?

Two days of data. Very scientific and statistically sound.

Given London has a disproportionally large BAME population, based on your own logic, you wouldn’t be surprised to having a number of cases involving BAME people?

If you look at say Bournemouth, where there aren’t that many BAME people, surprise surprise, there aren’t any BAME defendants in court. Funny that.

https://www.thelawpages.com/court-hearings-lists/B...

You also went awfully quite on racism and how courts view it. Do you now understand that point?

The law established that Sikhs were a race back in the 1980s IIRC.

Back when England was great! laugh

So why are they over represented in prison, 5% UK population, 15% prison population.

Probably the same underlying reasons pretty much every minority is over-represented in the CJS.

Why don’t you present the data? Most studies will point to economic factors. It might also be due to better food etc. Or maybe their religion tells them to peddle drugs, rape children etc. What do you think?

Why do you think white working class people are over represented?

What’s funny Noddle? I know to you he has a brown name but Shah is an Indian surname. Far more likely to be Hindu than Muslim.

Conversely, my nephew is a Muslim. He has an English surname and first name and is white. Confusing trying to judge by names alone isn't it!
