It's not the point - the fact he's even contemplating it is ludicrous and disrespectful. A massive kick in the teeth for the staff at Alder Hey who have probably done all they can to diagnose, treat and ultimately make his son's final days/hours as comfortable as possible.
Agreed. It won't go anywhere but it firmly places him well beyond the margin of sympathy reasonable people will afford him. He's acting like a fool now.

Yep agree, the guy is an absolute moron.
Apparently there's some bloke at the christian legal centre who's behind this. Got called out by a Judge.
As has been commented it'll get snuffed out if the dad tries to run with it..

Someone needs to remind some of these sanctimonious Americans that we ALSO have private healthcare for those that choose to use it. If the Evans choose to use it too I'm sure no one shall stop them, but they'll not get a different outcome.

Just been reported father wants to work with doctors build bridges with them and walk across it
One of the first things he could do is to implore the supporters/ yobs / etc to go home. A heartfelt plea to them is in order./
Then other people can get on with looking after their sick children and doctors and nurses can go about their work without fear.
Surely thats not too much to ask

I had a thought earlier (just the one - it's lonely) that I wondered if there was more to this than meets the eye. These yank fundamental god botherers are hard line conservative, and are probably backed by the republican party. In turn the fun-and-mental god botherers whilst peddling their pro life line are also doing the anti social healthcare message the republicans are trying to endorse.

A lot of the really mental comments are coming from across the pond, and the generalised tone is against social healthcare.

Is it therefore feasible that the first steps towards NHS privatisation is the demonisation of social healthcare. This is the perfect case to begin with.

The alternative is that this will be used by the republicans to show further evidence that the US model is preferable; certainly there's a growing level of antipathy towards the current US healthcare model.

That neatly explains the level of mental insanity from those that have absolutely no horse in this race.

Reading the social media comments makes me realise humanity is evidently dividing in to two distinct subspecies. Intelligent, slimmer, taller people and short, dumpy moronic trolls. Won't be long before someone makes a fortune selling dungarees and banjo's.

A work colleague made a comment earlier, I might post it up later on if the demand is there. It was quite close to the knuckle but certainly thought provoking.

Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.

I'm interested to read the close-knuckle comment, please post it

Have faith. The Neanderthals didn't survive, we did. This second bifurcation(?) is going to end up with the same result.

Simple solution:

Offer the parents and 'Alfies army' the child.
Say we have done all that is possible.
All yours, just sign this form to say you can't fix him, and then be on your way..
No legal recourse, nothing.

There was 120k in the gofundme this morning....

I understand this view is highly unpopular, so don't bother flaming me.

Not going to 'flame you' - however the problem with that is it enshrines the false view that a parent has 'rights' over a child, as though they are property.

Quite simply, parents don't have rights. They have a level of discretion afforded to them in how they deliver on their obligations.

I've seen somewhere that the police are now looking at social media comments and abuse.
Facebook post from Merseyside Police, regarding social media and potential offences/prosecutions.

Do NOT, I repeat, DO NOT, read the comments. Your brain will explode.

It just astounds me that this morning the father thought his best recourse would be to Sue the very doctors treating his child.

I see it as this:
Doctor.. Someone who makes it their life's work to understand the innate workings of the human body, maybe even specialising in say, the human brain.

Yet the opinion of this person is rubbished as an unqualified person knows better, just because..

For the child's sake, I hope he passes away soon, peacefully.

He's still effectively a child (and not a bright one at that), and experiencing one of the toughest possible experiences any adult could face.

He listens to people saying things he wants to hear, unfortunately there is a supply of some with both the absolute incorrect view and the capability to offer a huge amount (legal, media and financial).

It is the 'ambulance chasers' who have manipulated both him and his 'army' and created the situation. Which is fking abhorrent.

All I can hope is that now the pair of them can gain some positive memories of their child in his last few hours/days/weeks.

Respectfully he is 21 and a father. Unless you know of a medical condition that means his brain is that of a younger person. (Genuine question)
Yes he is experiencing one of the toughest worst experiences ANY PARENT can face. It's how you deal with it and how you face it that is the measure of you. He will be always be remembered one of two ways dependant on your viewpoint.

1. A simple man who did the best he could do extend his sons life. Fighting valiantly against Doctors and hospital advice because he believed his son would survive or
2. A self centred man who thought he knew best. He caused immense distress to many other patients and relatives as he whipped up a mob to try to blackmail a hospital into agreeing to his demands.

Tbf I was expecting my fb feed too have a few people sharing the great work of the Alfie army etc but not one person did which was disappointing as I was in the mood too tell them what utter morons they are. Give it a few days and the baying mob will be nowhere too be seen and on to their next target.

It's a extremely sad story but isn't unique my 2nd cousin spent 6 years with limited too no chance of life spent all her time in a chair and couldn't do any basic function at all. What kind of life is that if it was a family pet you be had for animal abuse for prolonging pain and agony strange old world.

I just hope the father sees sense and spends what little time he has with his son rather than trying to go down a path he will never come out of.
