If you can't afford basically what is a pint of beer and fill in a bit of paperwork then I'd suggest that you best stay at home.
When would it become unacceptable to you?

Personally, paying more than an ESTA (which many would consider to be one of the best countries on the planet) would become morally repugnant. Pretty sure I paid £10 to go to Aus. I mean these things are reciprocal. I guess we would charge EU citizens similar - as for many of them it's easily 'worth that' coming to UK alone. Either way it was less hassle than registering my Subway card, and I wouldn't forego a Chicken Pizziolo with drinks and cookie for £6.
It didn't cost me anything to get to HK (other than filling in the boarding card) and getting a new Octopus (travelcard & cash) as I lost mine.

All adds up though doesn't it? If you're a family for example. And these things don't cover the whole EU. You need a new one for every EU country you fly to from Britain. PITA and begins to add up.

This fee for increased background security checks, will these include children, and as has been asked elsewhere, will it also include entry into ROI, for NI citizens?

I hope it covers every country so it makes the cost to travel expensive and those who voted leave are really pissed off with this VISA cost - WTF did they expect?

For the record I run a business that works between the UK and the EU and I sit here wondering what on earth is going to happen next year and how many staff I may have to make redundant as a result of a vote where nobody got any of the true facts upon which to cast their vote. So in short I guess my PAYE tax bill will reduce shortly.

Don't worry, once we're floating free in the North Sea singing Kumbaya free of Urupeen Opreshun... Most folk wont have the money to fly overseas.

Sounds like Snap Numpty , has chosen the wrong time to leave France.
Still, rein in the Gammon consumption and you'll be suprised how quick you can save up £6.

To use some of the words from the article, it "may" all add up, "if" these "proposals" are passed. You "could" need a need a new one for every EU country you fly to.

Are you Dianne Abbott? It's purportedly £6 for a 3 year visa - so for a family of four that's £24 every 3 years. OMG!!!
I propose we charge them £10 to balance the sums and see how they like it.

Did you go back through the many pages of another thread to retrieve that quote of mine or is it in your "quotes to post to show someone who makes a valid post is really dumb" folder? rofl
Once again, unsurprisingly, you are missing the point. All your posts are widget post. That one is just the most representative. All your posts are as 'valid' as that one. I could tell you that there is a reason for you not getting that, but then it would be just a repeat.

smile
Having a folder of quotes on your computer so you can "win" on an Internet forum is sensible and makes everything you say valid? Ok. If you say so after all you are the clever one...

What's that meant to mean? If it comes to pass we can look back and say "Oh well, it MIGHT have happened and it did".

We know this already and can probably prevent it if the government are willing to make the necessary concessions. Wont hold my breath.

Eroding British people's rights probably isn't what most of us voted for.
It's not a right. It's procedure. Procedures have changed, can still change and will change.

You spotted it!

The EU are masters of the art simply by existing. How much (net) is it each year?

Times change and so do procedures but politicians will always fib and fkup.

Firstly the visa last for 3 years.

It's per person not per trip. (one person is responsible for many of your 70 million trips.

It's not agreed yet whether UK will negotiate to be in or out of this process as part of Brexit.

It's not agreed whether UK will apply reciprocal process.

Your £300 million maths looks to be a bit wide of the mark.

Quoting ONS stats to make yourself look clever has backfired a bit.

When reading through the reference source https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunit... I am struck with a massive sense of puzzlement.

Why, on why, did GS in quoting sone if the stats accurately not recognise the 37.6M visitors into the UK in the same year as relevant? Or that 8 out if the top 10 nationalities were EU states, with the US & Aus being the others?

Not saying that your post is totally without merit GS - it is just one element to a more complex position.

Perhaps the appropriate response should be a factor if 1.5 Times the cost of any frontier tax imposed, unless this is simply the new cost of doing business like numerous countries around the world do.

In the last couple of years I have sourced an ESTA and paid for visas to travel to Kenya and Jordan. It is not unheard of as a concept - even if it does occur

Is that a yes then? If so then so what, it's peanuts if indeed it ever happens.
