If other non EU countries pay the £6 (do they?) then surely no problem.

Eroding British people's rights probably isn't what most of us voted for.
Is that a yes then? If so then so what, it's peanuts if indeed it ever happens.

TX.
Au contraire (am I still allowed to say that?)

Eroding British people's rights in the EU and eroding EU citizen's rights in the UK are exactly what most of us (intentionally) voted for.

I thought we were assured this wasn't going to happen if we voted out?

Blimey, is that all - excellent value. Must be one of the cheapest around.
The current one is even better. It's comes free with your passport, works with every EU country and no chance of "Computer says no"

Ho hum.
Doesn't it cost the UK £200m+ ish a week? Or even £350m according to Boris.

What's that meant to mean? If it comes to pass we can look back and say "Oh well, it MIGHT have happened and it did".

We know this already and can probably prevent it if the government are willing to make the necessary concessions. Wont hold my breath.
What it means is you are presenting cost and hassle as absolute facts, when it is not yet definite.

What are the "necessary concessions" the government should make?

The EU are desperately thinking of ways to plug the UK's impending financial black hole. Where's the rest of the £12billion pa going to come from....?

Member states have already said they are not willing to pay more to make up the shortfall?!

Sadly the equanimity of PH leavers in the face of this prospect is by no means universal, especially among the readership of the Daily Heil.

it's only a few quid.........plus it's optional. I see no problem with that. The 12billion hole (if that's the accurate number) wasn't optional was it. So now, if people want to pay the EU they have the choice to travel there or not.

and again, I voted remain!!

this is not a big deal in anyway whatsoever

It's 6 quid a visa, which lasts 2 years (going up to 5 in 2020), not per trip you complete muppet.

original article that TTY linked to said:
However European chief Brexit negotiator for the UK Michel Barnier said he wants a post-Brexit deal which includes “foreign, security and defence policy”, meaning Britons may still be unaffected by the proposals if an agreement is reached.
This would be the more likely outcome. The reciprocal arrangements of how much Brits spend in the EU, and how much the EU spends in Britain, would already cover the cost of administering this charge.

Exactly!
Slasher (now Slapper laugh) probably spends more than that daily on his Bucket, Subway or McLibels washed down with 2 litres of brown sugar.
You are a typical fast food lover aren't you, Gloria?
Got to be some valid reason for you being so, so extraordinarily possessed about Brexit on a daily basis. biggrin

If ETIAS has a 'first county of entry' rule like the Schengen visa, then it will be a big pain in the arse.

This rule requires you enter the EU country you originally applied to travel to first, before you can travel to any other. So if you get a 'French' ETIAS for trip to France next month, but decide you fancy weekend in Amsterdam beforehand, you will need a 'Dutch' ETIAS.

It's £6. Who cares? biggrin ESTA is $14, so this is something of a bargain. wink
Exactly my view. i really could not give a st about paying a measly £6 for a visa. The only point it will annoy me is if we dont do the same to those wishing to visit the UK and or if we are the only ones expected to pay it.

In which case they can FRO with that idea given we paid for a large part of the EU's infrastructure.

I used to think the most embarrassing person on this forum was some bloke who lied and was found out about buying a Porsche on Ebay.

However this is trumped by Slasher - just one individual can spout so much un-researched tripe, or even look into the providence of the authors of the articles he posts - is just plain weird.

You can be passionate about a cause - but at least post up intelligent articles that stand scrutiny.

And quality of posts not quantity is key to creditability.

And if it isn't the daily bile of arse gravy - he is pointing the finger "J'accuse Racist" at random folks.

Anyway - back to doing better things with my life for a while.

So.. enjoy the "you are a racist!!!" fest I'm sure will ensue.

The dick heads who run the EUSSR really will need to realise we won't be bullied well apart from the remnants who would rather we suffered than prospered from Brexit ...

It may be £6 or EUR5 or whatever it is, but it is still £6 more than it costs now and an additional administrative burden which there isn't now.
If you can't afford basically what is a pint of beer and fill in a bit of paperwork then I'd suggest that you best stay at home.

Personally, paying more than an ESTA (which many would consider to be one of the best countries on the planet) would become morally repugnant.
OK so at £6, I'm an idiot who needs to stay at home. At £9 (the GBP cost of a ESTA), the fee would be morally repugnant. So the difference in something being morally repugnant to yourself and me needing to stay home is £3. Glad we sorted that one out.

In terms of everything you have to pay, £6 is not much but it is still paying something, still filling out something and like all administrative things, sometimes it will go wrong, sometimes somebody will have the same name as somebody in a watch list and be rejected, sometimes somebody will forget and be unable to travel. All that is something which does not occur now.

Don’t think so

Unsurprisingly you clearly don’t need one for every country as Trolleys also claimed.
