So what you’re saying is you find it offensive on a human level when a woman has to return to work away from their newborn?
Living away from home for more than half the week is a bit different to going to work for the day.

I know, but i wasn’t talking about that. Ruth Davidson is offended by the idea of women returning to work *away* from their newborns. Someone women don’t have the choice, or others (the lucky ones) are career driven enough to want to. I am surprised she is be offended by this thought.

I think we must be reading different quotes, then, because the one I'm reading says...
"...the idea that I would have a child in Edinburgh and then immediately go down to London four days a week and leave it up here is offensive..."

Everything about the problem being away for the majority of the week, not even a mention about simply working.

Ah right, she'd be going to London on 4 day long holidays every week. I guess I agree with Ruth then, that would be pretty cold hearted. Even when the child is at home with their other mother.

Most people who go to work go out of the home in the morning and come back to the home in the evening.
That's a bit different to a job requiring you to live at the opposite end of the country for more than half the week.

The comment is fairly clearly objecting to the latter, without mentioning the former. But since you're determined to take offence at something else entirely that simply isn't there, I doubt such minor details will stop you.

Clue: Does it mention that she'll be giving up being an MSP, too? No.

She is offended by the thoughts of the latter, as you put it. We don’t disagree on that point.

But I think that is rather judgemental of her as some people have to do that, or some people choose to do that.

I am not offended by any of what she thinks on the issuse so there’s no need for your projecting it.

Everybody is judgemental to some degree about everything. Human nature.

I wonder if she would find it offensive if the "other mother" had to work away from home after the baby's born. Y'know, like a lot of fathers do.

Just trying to work out whether she thinks a child needs 2 parents at home or just a mother (or two).

She said it was offensive to HER, not to others. Why are you taking offence on behalf of others when that's exactly what she ISN'T doing?

It has arrived.

"Scottish Conservative leader Ruth Davidson has given birth to a baby boy - saying she and partner Jen Wilson are "delighted".

Ms Davidson said her son had been named Finn Paul Davidson, and weighed 10lb 1.5oz when he was born on Friday."
