Now when I heard it I was a bit shocked but its a generation thing, the speakers were much older than me. Got me thinking though what a middle east with no Israel would be like, I suspect it would still be a place of strife, just the players would be different.

Naive in the extreme but also incredibly inaccurate, also laughable to have any notion that Israel is some sort of victim. They are the recipients of billions of dollars in funding and military spending and they have blockaded the occupied territories and cut off any likelihood of the Palestinians hope of statehood. Their brutality has empowered Hamas in Gaza. They have no interest in peace and the Americans have been shown to be the dishonest party in these peace negotiations over the years.

the onus is also on the (up to) 35,000 Palestinians not to sling-shot stones or roll lit tyres at the IDF.
