And she is absolutely correct to say that.

It is the 99.9% that give a bad rep to the other 0.1%.

But she didn’t say it... but I heard it...

In the meantime Police and crime commissioner for Lancashire Constabulary Clive Grunshaw is on his yearly tour
Basically trying to persuade people o stomp up more dosh via the local council tax to fund more officers
In previous years astonishingly he has come back with results of overwhelming amounts of people wanting to pay more these being the results of his survey
In previous years his "survey has been rather well hidden away on a link in his website
this year its right out in the open and as a result is attracting a lot more attention

All the consultation results I've read across the country usually conclude the local residents are willing to pay more CT to fund more police.

Perhaps a lot of people do understand the basics of supply / demand.

Perhaps the people who organise the ‘consultations’ know how to get them to produce the result they want?

I’ve been subjected to the result of local consultations I never even heard about at the time.

Which would need to be a conspiracy.

I'd tend to agree with this, people are thoroughly pissed of at criminals - who work on the assumption they're unlikely to be caught - stealing their vehicles, burgling their homes, garages, sheds, vans. Everyone bears the cost of higher personal security and insurance, so it is only logical the public would support spending if it brought more frontline officers.

I think it'd be interesting to know the change (if any) in public sentiment towards higher contributions over the past couple of decades.

Are people more willing to pay locally due to central government cuts?

There's also local variability of how badly certain forces have been hit due to their respective central government vs local funding proportions. How does this impact on the local population?

Lancashire, the constabulary this topic relates to, are the 10th lowest (from 43) when it comes to how much they raise (as a %) of their total funding i.e. the central government cuts hit them harder than most other forces as they rely more on central government funding. Their real term funding reductions between 2010 and 2016 were amongst the worst in the county, which unsurprisingly, resulted in them having greater % reductions of staff than most other constabularies.

That's without considering earlier data I cited which showed them to have atypically large demand relative to the population size compared with other forces etc.

It doesn't seem too fair that the population is subject to such large variability just for living in one part of the country vs another.

And one is still on the run despite having been escorted away from the brewery by the police plus dozens of others got away scot free.

I feel for Thwaites' losses.

Criminal damage will still be investigated, just not as immediately as you want.
I'm sure that's a great comfort to Thwaites Brewery.

Let us know if anything ever comes of it, would you? If so I'll apologise for calling you the pathetic, ineffective, hand-wringing, excuse-making waste of space that I believe you to be.
Well....

Well......... You lot obviously aren't a total waste of space, to be fair- you've got 2% of the pikescum locked up for a short sentence, 1% awaiting a presumably much milder sentence, 1% on the run after you escorted him away from the scene of the crime.

96% got away scot free so I'll say that you're only a 96% pathetic, ineffective, hand-wringing, excuse-making waste of space that I believed you to be. You might think you're cock of the walk but read through the thread to see what most folks not in the police think of you. ("You" is a collective rather than individual pronoun but I believe you individually fit the description quite well.)

La Liga goes on about the disproportionate number of pikescum in prison- I have to totally agree that the number is disproportionate but not in the way he thinks. Less than 4% convcted & properly serving sentences isn't worth too many bragging rights.

Let's see how well you do next time. I don't think this time was the huge victory you seem to be suggesting.

Even after all these pages of explanation, spelling it out to you, spoon feeding it even you still can't understand it.
