Surprised the law isn’t a lot harsher on graffiti and breaking into train facilities .... someone could easily have put a bomb on the tracks.

Other countries take this more seriously ( eg : caning and jail in Singapore ) - no surprise it is almost unheard of....

Well as they have ceased to be the use of "are" is incorrect for a start.

Is it really necessary to deride them as scum?

Says a lot about the bloke sending the tweet.

“Their families have been informed and are now being supported by specially trained officers.
(ignoring the pun)

Why don't they just train the officers to start arresting criminals???
They will be regular officers, they are however also trained in being a family liaison officer for events such as this. They act as a single point of contact for grieving families and can assist with the various processes that need to happen (in a nutshell)

I’ve never got round to appreciating graffiti. Not the tagging (which is evidently of no value) but the “good” ones books tell me I should appreciate. But then I spent an afternoon walking round the Prado thinking almost all of its exhibits weren’t my bag. I can nod in the right places at The National but little really gets me going. Maybe a life as a Professor of Art Appreciation of International repute never really was on the cards after all.

FWIW I doubt the loss of these chaps will cause much fuss. Nothing that can’t be easily dismissed or ignored anyway.

Don’t mess with trains, kids.

Anybody care to retract their ill judged comments about "promising footballers" and assumptions that the young men killed were barely literate moped thieves yet?

how is promising graffiti artist any different to promising footballer? Other than getting paid a lot less.

Zero sympathy to be honest.

Well that's not true - very sorry for the train driver and the people that had to attend the gruesome site.

Criminals died doing something criminal. It's hardly cry worthy is it?

Absolutely not. They were killed performing a criminal act, an act they've performed countless times before and which has brought cost, suffering and inconvenience to numerous people and businesses. Next time my train is delayed due to vandalism I'll remember their art and have a quiet chuckle to myself. Good riddance.

BBC said:
Harrison Scott-Hood, 23, and Alberto Fresneda Carrasco, 19, were found dead on tracks near Loughborough Junction station on Monday with another 23-year-old man.

Mr Carrasco's family said they were "painting graffiti late at night in a particularly dangerous place".
They really aren't wrong there... Is it me, or is there an implicit ", the fking idiots" in there?

BBC said:
Mr Scott-Hood's parents said he was a "beautiful artist" and "kind man".
...
Susie and Perry Scott-Hood said their son, from Muswell Hill, was "loved by everyone".

"He was an intelligent and wonderful boy who had so many close friends," they said.

"Many people will know Harrison loved to travel, he was a beautiful artist and spent time recently travelling around Vietnam and Cambodia.

"Harrison completed us. He is irreplaceable."
Mmm... And no word on what he did for a living to pay for all those holidays? LinkedIn suggests "not much", beyond a bit of casual catering work. Guess that'll be off Mummy and Daddy, then.

yep - the delayed trains due to "people on the tracks" so many times in London.

Time is the commodity that people can't ever get back. Time is priceless.

I don't need to go into all the things that people haven't made it home in time for...............because it's obvious the impact that this can have.

People missing important job interviews.

All I can see is there are three less people committing a crime now. This can only be a good thing.

I wonder if it's possible to feel some sympathy for the train driver and the poor sods who got run over and their families?

They don't seem like they should be mutually exclusive.

I'm no bleeding heart liberal but I do think sometimes there's some kind of competition on here about who can gloat the most.

yeah but didn't they cause the suffering to the poor train driver and their own families and the police that had to mop them up?

I don't get the sympathy for the criminals.

In fairness the greatest museums in the world are full of pieces of immense value knocked out by layabouts who couldn’t keep down jobs or pay their own way through life.

Maybe, but did they do their 'training' next to live railway lines? Maybe it gets the creative juices flowing compared to tagging a wall in a street.

Yep, I feel sorry for the families of the three and of/for the crews that had to clear up the aftermath of what happened and live with it for rest of their lives. For the three victims, they played a dangerous game and lost - probably just exactly wrong location on the track at exactly the wrong time but they put themselves there willingly...

Suspect this will go down as "death by misadventure" at an inquest. And the tagging will continue unabated.

It is what you would most probably call an 'artist' who did something similar to your car.

At this point can I recommend a morning visit to Flatford? Get there early before the tourists. The best al fresco National Trust cream tea I’ve ever experienced.
