i would like to see the equivalent of public skateboard parks set up for people to cater for both cars and bikes. zero liability enter at your own risk type places. look at the crowd there, a load of young people that could be doing many other things, some not so innocuous. young folk will always find somewhere to carry on like this and crowds will always gather to watch, at least if it occurs in known locations on the occasions carnage occurs it can be dealt with a bit more efficiently.

yes i know there are track days and drift events. not everyone wants to go that route or can afford it. just telling people they can't do things generally doesn't work either.

Far too organised, will probably need to get insurance and adhere to rules, which will put people off.

Just crane in huge rocks around a large open pice of land is what is needed, You crash, you die kinda thing and your mum & dad dad have to sign a form to say they will clean up any parts, vehicle or human biggrin

Impressive driving in the wrong place.

If he gets it wrong all the momentum could end with him accelerating forwards quickly. I'd not fancy getting pinned to a pillar by a car doing only 10mph.

I have been in more danger than that at 'organised' events in the 80's!

That looks staged.
Audi you come to that conclusion.

Gloriously but ultimately tragically it was real. Watch this until the end to see how it all suddenly ends in tears

Then go back and watch the video in OP again...

You would be surprised just how easy it is to do that stunt.

A few hours tuition - an airfield and cones to build confidence - and you could nail it.

But doing it with people, other cars etc around you = bellend.

Full credit where it is due, that guy can pedal a car. Impressive.

Great to watch.

I used to go to proper 'Max Power Magazine' style car cruises all the time back in the late 90's- early 2000's.

Absolutely fantastic.

Hundreds and hundreds of cars turning up in one place and the whole thing turning into a vast orgy of pounding subwoofer bass, neon lights, engine revving, popping and banging exhausts, flames, and completely mental doughnuts and burnouts.

The sights, the sounds and the stench of burning rubber.

It was so incredibly exciting to be there.

I genuinely miss those days, despite me being the best part of 40 years old now.

I would go to one tomorrow if I thought it would be anywhere near as good as they were back in the day.

Judging by the single turned down exhaust, I'd say it was a diesel.

The stench must be unbearable, like an old bus depot hehe

Skilled driver and anyone he might have have hit only have themselves to blame.

I imagine you would hear the noise and see the smoke and crowd in plenty of time to stop you walking into the middle of it by accident. Not to mention the driver was obviously pretty handy at avoiding things!

I really don't see the harm in it personally..
That’s your opinion Shuvi, and you have EVERY right to both hold, and express it, equally it’s my opinion that the cretin at the wheel was an imbecilic moron, and the idiots filming it, were pathetic losers, I reiterate, that’s just MY opinion.

Car enthusiasts come in all shapes and sizes Frank.

When I was in aged 18 to 20-something I would drive a heavily modified VW Golf to car parks all over the place to attend car cruises and be part of the total chaos of burnouts, doughnuts, drag racing, and general lawlessness. I never used to do any of the daft driving as I liked my car too much to damage it, but I absolutely loved the excitement of being there and watching.

Fast forward a few years and now I go to Salon Prive, Goodwood, etc and take my classic Porches to various civilised events. I enjoy classic shows and racing.

At the time I was attending these 90's car cruises, my friends would all come as well. None of them were anything but middle class kids who never got in trouble, and all turned into extremely respectable adults.

Don't assume they are all scumbags and losers.

They are mostly just ordinary kids wanting automotive excitement on a Saturday night instead of getting pissed in the town.

Yes, of course it's stupid, but then so is going out to pubs and bars and getting so drunk you can't see and throwing up in the street at 2:30am.

Kids do silly things.

Might be a brilliant driver, but jeez that is some risk to be taking with spectators so close. Near the end he circles one fella and looks inches away.

Doris in the Astra doesn't seem like she wants to be there for anything more than a bit of shopping.
..the innocent bystanders that might get injured, are the problem.

That the guys doing it and people want to see it is not all bad, but it's a shame there's no place better to do it. It's good to see young petrolheads coming up through the ranks, but at the same time, it's not a great thing to be doing. I notice that my local Tesco swiftly installed some speed bumps and humps after a few black lines and donuts were laid down and, it's probably a wise precaution.
