Either way, they don't exist to facilitate revenge. More of this 'civilised society stuff'.
They couldn’t anyway - revenge is personal. We are supposed to forsake personal revenge in return for society’s justice. I am genuinely surprised at how infrequently that trade is refused. I guess after a long sentence the victim’s loved ones are usually too old and wise and have made their peace with the past.

Sex offenders are segregated and protected in their own wing.

Whilst any reduction is disappointing, this PoS will still be doing a minimum of 24 years bird, and then has to convince the Parole Board that he is safe to be freed. I had feared a reduction to about 10 years.
Let's hope every days of those 24 years is long and miserable.
But the thought he could be out in his early 40's sits ill with me. Let's hope every days of those 24 years is long and miserable.
Fingers crossed it never happens...………..
