I'm usually against the death penalty but crimes like this are unforgivable.

It's a real pity he is too young to end up in Greenock or Barlinnie prison. The other inmates would take care of him.

Oh yes all those good prisoners could gang up and take it out on the bad prisoner.

A 16yr old would rule out any of the family members then I guess as there's been no mention of any other children in the household so far?

What's somewhat terrifying is the thought this girl may somehow exited the property in the night on her own accord and the first person she runs into doesn't call the police to inform them they've found her but decides to murder her instead.
Yip that's what i'm finding all too confusing too...!

Did she just walk out the house? If so why? I read she sleep walks but then walks into a murdering 16yo? Just doesn't add up! I think she must have known the 16yo...possibly a cousin...who knows!

As above, i guess we may never know!
Locals on social media saying that the suspect knew the house would be unlocked and he just walked in and took her.

If the 16 y/o turns out to be Syrian, then what does that actually mean anyway?
Nothing, but it would allow a certain type of person to feel justified in their prejudiced views about certain minorities/"the other".

It's not as if indigenous Brits ever commit crimes, is it?
It would mean that if we didn’t import people from Third World War zones, of whose problems / experiences and culture we know absolutely nothing about, she would still be alive.

The welsh rapist is already here, we can do nothing about him, but having British rapists is a poor excuse for importing others.

Unless we are using the lily allen approach that “she would probably have been raped and killed anyway”.

Alice gross was very supportive of eu freedom of movement until a convicted murderer from Latvia Used this freedom to come here and kill her.

Funny old world ...

What a surprise to see you posting in this thread.

And even more of a surprise to see you posting your anti-immigration bile on it too.

There's zero evidence that this crime has any connection whatsoever to anyone fron outside Scotland. I doubt there's any evidence to show a spike in crime rates at all in that area since those horrible foreign people moved in.

Not sure what you're trying to say with the piece in bold either. It's almost as though you just blame the foreigners and don't worry about evidence.

I'm always wary of advocating the death penalty, but if this is proved I'd 'flick the switch' and smile whilst doing it!!

Utterly Evil!! Where does the thought come from with someone like this?? "I know, I'll take this cute little 6 year old and rape and then kill her! "I'll never get caught on this small island"

FFS There are sick b*st*rds around!!

Makes me wanna cry if I think about it too much! Poor little thing!!

I suggest that you seek help from a psychiatrist.

It is truely terrible. Not wanting to turn this into a death penalty debate, but I'd always rather they suffer in prison for the rest of their lives. Death is too easy a way out for them.

Mind you... I also want life to mean life and not '10 years if you behave'.

Also, her name in the thread title is incorrect. Maybe a bit more respectful if that is corrected.

It was as was being reported at the time the thread was started. It is still being reported as different spellings of both first and second names in the press, even by the same newspapers!

But then on that logic there will be Doctors who are not British or at least not white who are saving lives every day in the UK....

A 6 year old girl is dead after being raped, my first thought is not, unlike some, "quick lets go on a forum and mention that a Syrian did it..."
My first thought is incredible sorrow.

He could still end up in Polmont YOI. Far worse there.

Nobody is suggesting the individual was Syrian, the question asked was why would it matter.

You don't get early release from a life sentence, you don't get a minimum rec of 10 years for a crime like this.
It's usually mid 30's and that is a minimum not out after half
Although as offender is a youth it may be less
Having a small daughter myself I would feel it appropriate if he went to some horrendous YOI and had the st kicked out of him for many years

Can we move on the Syrian debate. From the name that is being banded about, it's unlikely he's from Syria unless he's paid his £25 to Deed Poll!

I see Police have mentioned keeping doors locked etc, I wonder if this is some aspect of life on Bute, (ie you can leave your front door open), or something to do with the heatwave we have the moment, ie doors and windows open to cool down?

Horrific. That poor little girl. And if this lad has done it, I wish him years of pain, suffering and bad health.

Unfortunately wishes don’t work. We should have the death penalty for cases like this.

Even when we had the death penalty we didn't execute under 18s.
