Idiots who pointlessly protested
It's astonishing how many people these days cannot see Freedom of Speech and the right to Peaceful Protest as the cornerstones of Democracy. The very reason you can even write what you write on a forum without fear of recrimination is because of those principals. The success or otherwise, of any particular Protest does not make Protesting pointless. (especially as the measure of success is extremely difficult to objectively quantify in most cases)

If you can't see that, then i'm afraid that the "Idiots" you talk about might actually be slightly closer to home.............
You seems to have taken what I wrote out of context. I have no problem with people protesting in fact quite the opposite unlike many on this thread I believe people should be able to state their views without being subject to abuse. What I had a problem with is this post from Byker28i

suggesting that it was somehow Trumps fault rather than the fault of the protesters.... IMHO nobody turning up at all would have been a much better and more cost effective protest and would have saved the country as a whole around £17 million.

Organizers estimated that 250,000 people took part in the main rally, which required police to close off Trafalgar Square in the center of the capital after it reached capacity.
Nearly 10,000 police officers from across the country were deployed to cover the events, performing more than 26,000 shifts, Sara Thornton, head of the National Police Chiefs' Council, said.

Idiots who pointlessly protested against Trump visit cost the rest of the country who didn't give a flying fk £18 million.... still going with your 250,000 I see... rofl
How much of the £18m would have been incurred solely because President tttybks visited and how much of it was additional and incurred only due to the protestors?

For comparison Obamas visit cost £1.6 million...

In Trump's mind that would be a win.

Bigger number. Bigger better president.

Apparently Obama's last UK visit cost c.2 million.

VS your post makes little or no sense to me.

Apart from costing a huge amount of money what did the protest actually achieve? Why is thinking that the people who protested were idiots who wasted a huge amount of our money on a pointless protest incompatible with not having a problem with their right to do it. Personally I think that jumping out of an aeroplane with nothing more than a parachute is madness but I accept that other people have the right to do it.

On it’s own that’s meaningless and irrelevant. The question was “how much did the protestors add to the cost of Trump’s visit”.

Apparently it cost £5m in policing costs for the Orange Turd’s visit to his old course.... is that the fault of the protestors as well?

Well I for one feel it was merited. I am afraid that will be the end of that discussion for me though, as your viewpoint will not change. And neither will mine.

Why the laughter on the 250 number?
Because we had a discussion about the organisers 'estimate' of the numbers at the time and only Byker28i who was there and counted them all didn't accept that it was a *slight exaggeration....

Vanden Saab said there was only those in Trafalgar Square which holds about 20,000 people, but he wasn't there. I went, which he didn't like, thought was sad people protesting against someone that he doesn't support, but seems to always protest on trumps behalf.

I've never claimed there were 250,000 people. I've always said the organisers estimated 250,000 people attended, I've said that that the streets were full, trafalgar square was full

What was obvious was there were many, many more than the 20,000 that Vanden Saab claimed
https://www.standard.co.uk/news/uk/donald-trump-lo...

Then there were the protests at Blenheim Palace, at his golf course....

Has the trump promised farmer bailout actually made it to the farmers? I can't find it reported

I think the issue with your post is on the one hand claiming to respect the right of people to protest free from abuse, whilst simultaneously and repeatedly applying perjorative labelling to them.

Yes... the old Severn bridge was closed and it was wet and very windy but our couple of days away visiting friends in Wales made a nice break thank you....
When we went, one lane of the old bridge was closed, or fully closed to motorbikes and high sided vehicles. The new bridge was fully open.
Lots of localised flooding in Pembrokeshire, with some trees down. I've spent the morning patching then resealing the flat roof after it was leaking slightly. Beautiful here today, suns out, blue sky...

You know how Donald is, a bit odd? The sort of odd you cannot put your finger on. Well I now know why Donald is odd. Finally worked it out. He has no time in his spacetime path for the little things in life that give a perspective....

Those both show the human side of things. I just don't get the same with Donald. frown

I don't think Donald gets the big picture like they did. I just hope there is not something on the horizon like Winston and Franklin had to deal with.

Strange, when he did the things that put life in to perspective for himself he was accused of shirking his job

He might not like pets but he seems to like his hobby

As for my source the capacity of Trafalgar square is 20,000 according to the GLA. Although according to the Crowdsize app you can get 35,190 people in there.
